What do you understand by proof of brain?

Proof of Brain is putting into writing a specific idea you have in your mind. Almost everything has been written about, which makes it unlikely to be the first to write about something. What we have to do is write about something in our own words. That is what makes our writing original and that is Proof of Brain.
A tip I can give is to use what is around us to influence what we write about.

Why is it important to know and understand it?

Steemit relies on a fair distribution of rewards to grow. This is what mostly attracts new users on the platform as they are certain their efforts will not be in vain. And the best way to distribute rewards is through encouraging publishing original content which attracts engagement through comments and upvotes. All these who engage receive a share of the rewards so everybody wins. This is why we all need to publish original content. It encourages activity on the platform.

How can you apply it?

We apply Proof of Brain by publishing and supporting original content. This can be done through ways like commenting on good original content and upvoting it. This increases activity on Steemit as various users are rewarded.

How does it relate to our stay here as steemians?

When users create original content, they are rewarded. This is because this original content attracts engagement from various users on the platform. And this in turn helps in distributing rewards to more users other than just the author thus growing the community. This as a result calls for the need to publish original content to keep everyone active and earning on the platform, right from the commenters, upvoters among others.

How can we learn to make use of proof of brain?

We should make the most of what is around us by writing about it. There is a lot that goes on in our lives and the lives of people around us, as well us the events that happen around us. Let's work on our vocabulary so that we can express well the ideas in our heads in writing.

We also have to do enough research to fill ourselves with enough knowledge on an idea before writing about it. There is hardly something we shall write about that hasn't been written about before, so we can take advantage of that to acquire more knowledge to help in publishing original content.

What are the challenges?

Some users wrongly use the big stake they have on Steemit in terms of Steem power. They vote on posts they are biased with which are sometimes their own(self voting) without minding their quality. And as we all know, low quality posts usually have low engagement therefore rewards are not distributed fairly. Therefore the purpose of Steemit is not served well.

On addition to that, there are users who publish good original content but are not visible enough on the platform. Such content would attract engagement but unfortunately it doesn't because it reaches few curators. This thus costs users who would have engaged on that particular content a share of the rewards that would be distributed.

Why should we make use of it despite the challenges?

Proof of Brain is the best way to attract a wide distribution of rewards. Despite a few unfortunate events, it has done well to attract engagement and more users on Steemit.

This is just my understanding of Proof of Brain. Am really glad @steemkidss brought up this contest. It will give us a clear understanding of what Proof of Brain stands for and how we can make best use of it to grow ourselves on the platform as well as grow Steemit at large.
