Psychology: The Fear Of The Unknown
Hello, Friends!
Another moment of thought is here with you guy and this time another is to speak to your mind on the origin of anxiety and how to eliminate it.
PicsArt: [The Fear Of Unknown] by samest
For some minute now, can you picture yourself like You are a Giraffe and let's look at what we can deduce from it as we continue in the study.
A giraffe lives by the African savanna on the grasslands. The length of giraffe neck is close to 2.1meters long and due to the fact that its abode is in the grassland, its usual picture group of humans driving around on a jeep taking pictures of you (Giraffe). I will need to rest this that, it is not the neck nor the camera that separate giraffe from the humans taking it, the difference between the giraffe, other giraffe and the humans taking the picture is that, Every decision mostly giraffe makes, provides an immediate benefit to its life. It seems you are confused? Let me bring it down for you:
Like a giraffe, if you are hungry, the next thing is to walk over and just munch on a tree. You can imagine a storm rolls across the plains what giraffe will do is to take shelter under the brush nothing, nothing less. Again in time of predator visit, like a lion, giraffe can't wait… it's run for its dear life. From this little illustration, I will say most of the choices made by giraffe like where to sleep, what to eat or when to really avoid a predator, all this make an immediate impact on our lives. We most times focused on the present or the very and close future and when you live your life this way, scientists call it An Immediate-return environment. Ask me why? This is because every one of your actions instantly delivers a clear and immediate outcome.
Let me share with you a Delayed Return Environment after this you determine the next of action within your heart.

A Return Delayed Environment
Following the above illustration, let's rearrange the whole process and fix in giraffe position saying you are one of the humans that are vacationing on the jeep. The life you are living in a place of giraffe illustration is Delayed Return Environment. Do not be in a hurry I will explain.
As a human with a delayed return concept is what we operate, most of our choices we are making today will not benefit us immediately. Take for example A man with a good job working today is expecting a paycheck in weeks or months. Again if you save your money now or you invest you are expecting a return in later days, months or year. This makes me say most of the structure of modern society are all frame towards a delay rewards until some point in the future.
Let me say, this is indeed our problem: giraffe is worried about immediate problems like trying to seek shelter from a storm, human worry about problems of the future.
Imagine human thought: I have a job but I think its times for a career change. Some can even question the type of job they are doing, wait! The work I meant to do, am I really doing it? I think I should Maybe change my job.
See, The Human Brain Evolution
The brain of humans is not evolving for life in a delayed-return concept just like what I said earlier. According to science, the earliest remains of modern humans (Homo sapiens) were the first to have a brain that looks like ours. This is 200,000years old. If I will particular in this discussion, Neocortex is the new part of the brain and is the region that is responsible for higher functions like language, during the research its reveal that its the same size 200,000years ago as today. So, the fact is, every human are still working around with the same hardware as your Paleolithic Ancestors
When you compare the age of the brain, modern society is incredibly new and again not quite long (like 500 years) our society has moved to a predominantly Delayed Return Environment. When you look at this last 100years technology has increased, we have seen the rise of the car, the television, the airplane, personal computer, and the internet. All of this and most every other thing that makes up your daily life has been created in a very small window of time.
Folks, when you look at 100years you will agree with me that many things can happen but again when you look at the aspect of evolution I tell you 100 years is nothing. Homo sapiens brain spent 100,000 years evolving for one type of environment (immediate returns) and all of a sudden the whole environment changed and become Delayed Returns. The evolution of the human brain is to value Immediate Returns.
To be continued…
