First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to @sohanurrahman bhai for organizing such a beautiful and meaningful competition. This competition gives us the opportunity to share our favorite places with others and opens the way to introduce the beauty of our area or country to the world. Today I am sharing a fascinating and historical place I saw, Sura Masjid Osmanpur Ghoraghat Dinajpur.

I visited Sura Masjid which is located in Osmanpur, Ghoraghat, Dinajpur. It is one of the oldest Muslim structures in Bangladesh which still stands as a guide to history, religion and architecture.

I love to visit historical places since my childhood. I had heard about this mosque many times. It is hundreds of years old and is a priceless structure from the time of the Muslim rulers of Bengal. So I had wanted to see this mosque with my own eyes for a long time and that wish was fulfilled on this trip.

I liked the architecture of the mosque the most. The carved design on the red brick walls, the small domes at the four corners, and the small pond on one side of the mosque made it even more charming. Standing here, it felt like time had stopped. Many people say that drinking the water from this pond will fulfill whatever we ask of Allah.

When I was standing inside the Sura Mosque, it felt like I was standing inside history. I felt a strange peace when I placed my hand on the old wall. After the prayer, the silence and the harmony of nature around me made me feel like I was covered by the grace of Allah from this place. Yes, I took many pictures. The outer structure of the mosque, the beauty inside, the pond, the trees, and the silent look of the sky are reflected in every picture. Along with my daughter's mischievousness, my husband's sincerity, all in all, it was an extraordinary moment.

About The Mosque (A Short Description)

37536.jpg

Sura Mosque is a historical structure of the Bengali Sultanate period. It is believed to have been built in the 15th century during the Ilyas Shahi period. The mosque has three domes and is made entirely of red bricks. The design and craftsmanship of the walls have a unique touch of art of that era. Many people say that this mosque was built by the jinn in one night. Even today, many people come here to pray every day and many make vows to fulfill their wishes. When their wishes are fulfilled, they cook polao and feed it to the Muslims. Along with this, everyone also walks around and enjoys the beauty of this beautiful history.

My Reflection

This trip was not just an experience of seeing a historical structure, but for me it was a kind of mental peace. Sura Mosque taught me that there is a history hidden in every corner of our country, which if known, we can better appreciate our culture and heritage.
