Dreaming And Acting

... I have a dream... this nation would arise and live up to her creed... all men are created equal - Martin Luther King Jr

These were the excerpts from the speech of Martin Luther King that he delivered during the hit of racism on the American soil - and like a seed in a fertile ground, the power in the speech moved through the fissures of men's heart, and after many years of incubation, the dream finally arose (though posthumously) and found fruition in our contemporary time - and that was why the nation USA could witness a black president arising (in the person of Barack Obama) in a nation that was pre-hostorically known to be race-oriented. But all these started with the dream of just one man.

Remember another dreamer; Neil Armstrong; who, when he was growing up, had always fantasized about crossing the earth's atmosphere - and after many years, he blazed that trail to become the first man to touch the ground of moon; no wonder he had this to say:

...1 small step from 1 man; giant leap for the entire mankind - Neil Armstrong

From the above cases, you can infer that great achievements are always preceded by the ability to dream big and positive. The truth is; our thoughts have ways of conforming and determining our actions to the line of our dreams. As a matter of precision, dreaming big is what is needed to awaken that power of "I-can-do" lying dormant in our inside.

But as it were; if you just dream big and lie down with the dreams, before you know wassup, you'd see someone else fulfilling the same dream and leaving yours irrelevant. That is why actions must be performed towards the fulfilment of the dream. If Neil Armstrong had only stopped at dreaming without applying to the National Aeronautic and Space Authority, and was trained to be an astronaut, someone else would've had the honour of becoming the first man on moon.

Not just taking the required actions, but doing so at the required time. Imagine if Neil had delayed the trip to; maybe 1990; he may have been the 3rd or 4th person on moon, lol. But he acted promptly, and that was why posterity still remembers him.

You may have a big dream, and even aim for the skies, but you need to take a step from where you are. Just like a popular adage in this part of the world:

The long way to the market begins from stepping out of your house - Naija adage

So in view of these; dreaming big is good, but only when right actions are taken promptly, and before you know it, the world would stand up to hail your giant strides.

Action is relevant...
It's going to continue being a dream until you wake up

These are righteous words. I totally agree with you.
It's our absolute prerogative to rise up to our dreams

Hey Sammi :)

This is a lovely, inspirational post. I truly like the way you have strategist the means by which we can achieve great things in life. First we need to wish it, to visualize it. Then, be proactive about it! :)

Much love to you my dear :*

Thanks a lot Abbey. I'm always honoured by your presence.

Have a blessed evening. Much love

I guess it's the actions we take towards our dreams are what can turn those dreams into reality and the determination we attach to those actions can help us achieve our goals much faster.

You're right; dreams don't just fulfil themselves by accident, we need to take the required actions to see them fulfilled
