Towards The Path Of Discipline
We live in a world where unwholesome desires and appetite have taken over major parts of people's lives. It is not uncommon to see people chasing after only pleasures while humanity itself is left in a condition of disrepair. Some folks have created the idea that the ultimate aspiration in life is the achievement of one's happiness without a recourse to how many toes were trampled upon to achieve the happiness. In this world where laws themselves are flawed and legality does not necessarily equate to morality, discipline is a must for survival.
Discipline, in the simplest definition, is the act of policing your own actions. There are things that may not be legally wrong to do but are they also morally right to do? You do not live your life and do things because your body feels like doing it, always enquire of yourself if the proposed action will be deserving of your time.
If you fail to cultivate the act of putting control on your body and restrain yourself from doing certain things, they may come back tomorrow to fight back.
The dangers of unrestrained desires are so much that what took someone decades to build can be annihilated in just a moment if a wrong action is taken. Believe me, what some people are pursuing now may be just for temporary satisfaction. A time will come when the major part of what your have been struggling to acquire will be staring at you, but only if you will be disciplines enough to wait for it.
Before indulging in any activity, do you stop for a moment to ask what contribution the action will make to your future. If you cannot get a definitive answer, then the action may not be really worth it.
Some people often say that you cannot decide what the future will hold for you. But I tell you, even though you cannot decide that, your actions will definitely decide that for you. Because, your actions, overtime, will form a habit within you, which will ultimately fashion your character, then your character will go a long way to either make or harm your future.
Taking an instance from bodybuilding, y'all will agree with me that strong muscles (biceps, triceps, abs) are not gifted, if they were, then it is pointless to train, but you must be disciplines and determined to train hard to get them.
Remember this, discipline is never palatable and never easy, but if you desire greatness, then it must be a must. No massive building springs forth by accident, it must be carefully planned and designed, starting with the foundation. Similarly, the foundation you have to lay for your future hinges around discipline.
Anyone that has no rule or control over their own body may fall by any slightest temptation and may meet their shipwreck. Always remember this; things may be backed by law but they may not be helpful to your life at that moment.
