WHAT IS STU?
STU is an acronym for STEEM TOKEN UNIT which are rewards that an author or curator receives from a voted post. In steemit, cryptocurrencies are been paid as rewards in a post. Its rewards do appear in dollars but are been payout in a crypto-coin known as STEEM DOLLARS (SBD) and STEEM POWER (SP).
The ecosystem is programmed in a format that shares its rewards between the post curator and its author, it also permits the author to spilt its rewards into a different format or better still decline to be paid for the post. An example of what a STEEM TOKEN UNIT (STU) is found below:
Just as aforementioned, a reward from a post can be set up to pay out in three different formats which include:
- 50%SBD AND 50% SP
In this selection, a reward from a post is distributed between the author and curators of the post of which an equivalent percentage of 25% / 25% of 50% will be given to the author and the remaining 25% will be dispensed among its curators. The post curators do receive Steem power (SP) as their rewards while the author has a portion of Steem dollars (SBD), Steem powers (SP), and Tron (TRX) as well.
- POWER UP 100%
With the previous similarity, this section allows the author of a post to receive them as in steem power (SP) as the post reward without the inclusion of any other rewards. Meanwhile, the curators also have their rewards in Steem Power (SP).
To illustrate: I have a post that was rewarded with a total sum of $25, the reward will be distributed equally, i.e. my curators will receive 12.5 steem (steem power) and I will receive 12.5 steem (steem power) that is if only 1 steem is equivalent to $1 unless otherwise.
- DECLINE PAYOUT
In this selection, an author is possibly offering out the reward for creating the post back to steemit because when the post payouts, there will be no yield reward or coin to claim by the author.
TAKE A REAL EXAMPLE TO INDICATE THE STU AND CALCULATE THE DIFFERENT REWARDS THAT THE AUTHOR AND CURATORS GENERATED FROM YOUR LAST POST PAYOUT?
To get a real example, I will be using the reward summary from my last post, here is the screenshot below:
From the image above, you will see the following rewards:
- PAST POST PAYOUT: $44.06
- AUTHOR REWARDS: $22.04
- CURATOR'S REWARDS: $22.02
AUTHOR REWARDS
Firstly, for this reward, the 50% SBD and 50% SP setup would be used:
Author Rewards: $22.04
Author Rewards when divided: $22.04 / 2 = 11.02 SBD
Same applies: $22.04 / 2 = 11.02 SP
But since the price of steem as of the time of payout is $0.6015.
The actual payout is as follows;
USD $11.02 divide = $11.02 / 0.6015 = 18.320 SP
Finally: 11.02 SBD and 18.320 SP
CURATOR'S REWARDS
The same method has been applied as used above and the rewards which will be in steem power will be disturbed to the curators of the post following their steem powers (SP)
Curation Rewards: $22.02
Since the price of steem as of the time of payout is $0.6015.
The actual payout is as follows:
Curation Rewards when divided: $22.02 / $0.6015 = 36.60 SP
Finally: USD $22.02 / $0.6015 = 36.60 SP
REPUTATION
In the steemit ecosystem, Reputation consists of numbers that are tagged to a user which increase from a particular figure to another (25 upward) when the user's post is upvoted, it also signifies the level a user has actively been within the ecosystem.
Sincerely, a user's visibility does not depend on its reputation but on the huge amount or quantity of steem power (SP) such users have in possession which enables the user to execute curation and claim rewards from it as well as gain upvote from users with the huge quantity of steem power.
To get the raw reputation score of my account, I am using steemd. oi to scan through and from the image below, you can see my raw reputation which is: 36,216,097,159,298
CALCULATION PROCESS
Used Formula: (Log10(Raw Reputation Score)-9) * 9)+25
Reputation = (Log10(36,216,097,159,298)-9)9)+25
Reputation = (13.558)-9)9) + 25
Reputation = (4.558*9) + 25
Reputation = (41.030) + 25
Reputation = 41.030 + 25 = 66.029

I will be using a real-time example of my last post payout to analyze the percentage, the screenshot of the post is found below:
From the image above, here are the following details:
Post payout: $44.06
Author Rewards: $22.04
Author Rewards (1 SBD at $6.26): $11.02 = $68.9 USD
Author Rewards (1 STEEM at $0.6015): $18.320 = $11.01 USD
Author Rewards (USD): 68.9 + 11.01 = 79.91
The Curator Rewards: $22.02
Curator Rewards (1 STEEM at $0.6015) SP): 36.60SP = 22.02 USD
Curators Rewards (USD): 22.02
Total post payout (USD): 79.91 + 22.02 = 101.93 USD
Author total reward payout percentage: 79.91 / 101.93 = 78.39%
Curator total rewards: 22.02 / 101.93 = 21.6%
Looking at the percentage along with the analysis, the percentage generated by the author is 79.91 while the curators have 22.02 which can be said that the share rate has reduced drastically from 50/50% to 80/20% (author and curators).
Steemit ecosystem has a rewarding method that deals on a 1:1 ratio which has allowed an equal distribution of rewards between the author and the curators at 50/50%. Within the crypto market chart, the cryptocurrencies (Steem Dollars and Steem) that are been given as rewards, tense to have market volatility thereby resulting in a negative reaction of which might affect or reduce the reward method in steemit.
Although 1 USD is tagged to 1 SBD, whenever such takes place, the supply dynamics will be affected but we are sure that soon stability will return to the market all for good.
In addition to the calculation made earlier, the ratio are as follow:
Total post payout (USD): 79.91 + 22.02 = 101.93 USD
Author total reward payout percentage: 79.91 / 101.93 = 78.39%
Curator total rewards: 22.02 / 101.93 = 21.6%
The issue of supply and demand is a factor that needs to be considered and maintained at its necessary level. For that reason, #club5050 is good innovation that has been created to encourage users within the ecosystem to always power up 50% or more of their earnings from their rewards in steemit.
For example, the current reward percentage in steemit has shifted from its usual format that offers huge/high rewards to authors than its curator who receives a low reward percentage (80%/20%), just as the example where mentioned above.
The innovation also motivated an atmosphere that makes its users withdraw less of their earnings and put to use of their earnings by staking /power-up of which will create a medium where steem supply and demand can be controlled and possibly increase the price rate of steem within the market sector.
I am interested in the new project #club5050, in which I will be taking part starting from the earnings that will be gotten in this post of which I will be powering up the rewards with zero withdrawal. Now is the time to join in the upliftment of the mighty coin, steem.
To illustrate the upvote aspect, curator01 account will be used, just you can see from the image below:
The account above has a 62.527 reputation and belongs to curator01 with a high staked steem of 11.58M SP and whenever the account upvotes my post, automatically my reputation and the post payout will increase drastically because of the voting power that the account owns. But if curator01 downvotes my post, it will affect the post payout and would not reflect on my reputation.
To illustrate the downvote aspect, kouba01 account will be used, just as you can see below:
The account above has 71.619 reputations and 27,369.78 SP of which whenever kouba01 downvotes my post it will surely affect my reputation and reduce the post payout rewards because he has a higher reputation than my account. But when compared to the upvote effect, kouba01 can only offer $0.53 at 100% VP due to the small possession of steem in the staked pool (Steem power).
Through this lesson, I have been able to understand the steem token unit and also analyze the raw reputation of my account. The reputation of an account is required to be active to gain more visibility within the ecosystem, the avenue of #club5050 was considered as an important project all users need to partake for good growth of steem and its possible dynamic control.
