Sam's Painting Adventures - Queenstown Lake Front, New Zealand - Art and Photos

in #art7 years ago

I painted this art work outdoors (en plein air) last year. It was mid winter and my fingers were freezing, I had to put gloves on in the end. However it was a beautiful crisp clear day for painting.

This was the finished painting.

The Remarkables, 10" x 14", oil on canvas, painted 'en plein air'.

When painting outdoors I use a much looser painting style compared with my studio work as I want to paint quickly...also it was damn cold!

I painted this view of the Remarkables mountains and the botanical gardens.

This was my painting after I'd just finished it it, my fingers had dropped off by then!

This is me painting having a whale of a time ha ha!!!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, I have more art on my website: samuelearp.com

Nice report..... keep warm...... :)

Yep, must be might chilly down there.

@cesmak and @leoplaw it's cold at the moment!!!

Nice. That is something I haven't accomplished. I do not think that I am good enough with proportions yet to make it work.

You should have a go at painting outdoors, it really helps to improve your studio work.

nice artwork, i like

Thanks @elevator09 :)

Finally a good artist's blog I can follow ☺️

Haha pretty cool! I always figured new Zealand would be more on the warmer side.

It depends which part of NZ you are in. Queenstown where I live is in the South Island so it gets damn cold in winter. The north of the North Island is a bit more subtropical.

OH wow. That weather difference must be crazy then..

Very nice. Upvoted and resteemed.

Thanks for the resteem :)
