Introduction: My Life journey.

Merry Christmas Steemians. By the way, this is Rica Custodio. The wife of @rye05.

I’m not sure how to introduce myself but let me start by telling you the story of my life.

I grew up in a very small family, only having 1 sibling. My brother and I had a 7 years age gap.
Growing up, since both our parents worked in manila, they have no choice but to asked relatives to took care of us. We’ve been transferring to one relative to another which causes me hideous experience that causes me to be very protective of myself. I grew up not really that sociable, I only got friends because of my cousin whom I treated as my sister. She introduces me to her friend which also became my friends and had experienced a lot of things because of her. I can say that when she’s around I can show all my 100% potential. BTW to show how close we are, aside from being classmates grade school and high school, we became a mother and a wife in the same year. Not really planning for it, as we don’t really get in touch that time due to busy schedules. And now, both our daughters are following our footstep, they are growing up close together like a sister, just like their mothers.

By protecting myself I became very timid, to everyone, even to my brother, which causes us to grow apart. That is the greatest regret of my life. My brother is not showy to his feelings so he will really not meddle with my thing, but he’s always there when I needed him. He’s a very protective brother, and make sure those who’d insult me will have their price. I got too blinded and never really noticed how much he loves me.

There’s this part of my life that I got lost, never really cared of the world even my family until one tragic event hits me hard to came back to my senses. My brother got this motorcycle accident that damaged his head. The moment we heard the news, I never left my brother’s side. I was with him, attending to him in the ICU as my mother can’t really bear to see his situation and really causing commotion. If the surgeon came in time, he’ll surely survived, but the operation took place after over 24 hours due to shortage of surgeon. They were able to operate on him but the surgeon speaks to us frankly that we need to be prepared. That is the lowest point of my life. I stayed outside of the hospital as I can’t bear to see him. It took me hours to gather my courage to face him. And when I did, I held his hand, and he responded on it. He held it so tight while he’s crying nonstop. It’s almost 5 years now but its still fresh on my memory. What makes me regret more is during his wake, there are hundreds if people gathered for him, and have their own story about him, but to my surprise, all of those people knew me. I dint know that’s how much my brother love’s me that everyone he met make sure to know me.

I met my husband after that incident. I know that my brother is still guiding me and making sure that I’m on the right hand as @rye dreamed of him three times in one night when we're still dating. After a while we both have decided to tie the knot and now we have our own family, with a very pretty daughter. We're both blessed to have the privilege to work home base and to spend more time with the family, give the attention our daughter needs from both of her parents.

Lesson of my story, to all my readers, this is me telling you to spend more time with your family. Prioritize those who love you unconditionally. Family will always be there even through your worst and will accept you no matter what. Cherish them and love them while you can.

Hahahaha panalo.Happy holidays sa inyong lahat!

Welcome, and nice to see you here at steemit @sandracustodio! We've had the best discord times with @rye05 (though I rarely have time for discord now).

Yours is the only intro post that made me cry. It must have really felt so bad, losing your only brother. You are right, family is family. They're the really the ones we can depend to stick with us through thick or thin. Spend more time with them.

See you around Sandra! 😊

It really is, until now I'm full of regrets for not really giving much time to my family in the past, especially to my brother. The sad part is I learned this thing the hard way, when it's already too late.

Welcome to Steemit ma'am Sandra! Pakibati po ng Merry Christmas kay sir Rye and your whole family.

Salamat po sa pag welcome. Merry Christmas din po sainyo and to your family po.

Hey @sandracustodio,

interesting story of your life but you're right. Family is most important. You need people around you loving and respecting you as you are.

Hope you're having lots of fun on Stemmit.

I totally agree, Thank you for warm welcome :)

Hi Rica, that is a sad but beautifully heartfelt story that almost made me cry. I think it is amazing that you open up and tell us that story and a sign that your brother is still with you (as a part of you). You have a beautiful family and I wish you the best in life. I also have a lot of respect for the lessons you've learned from it at such a young age of life.

I truly wish that you are blessed in everything you do and I'm happy to know your story. Welcome here!

ps and your husband @rye05 is welcome too :)

Thank you Dave, I just don't want him to be forgotten that's why I always want to let people know that in this lifetime, he existed.

Memory and understanding... That is the two things we have been blessed with... I agree with you so much and like I said, I'm impressed that you learned this at such an early age. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your beautiful family Rica!

I don't know how to thank directly thank @surpassinggoogle, but I want to say thank you to him for upvoting @sandracustodio and me. That is a generous thing you did and I'm happy for the encouragement to both me and my new friend Rica.

I will also tell you that I will add you as a witness and follow the instructions you gave on your profile. I couldn't imagine having a better person watching over this site, so you have my vote sir! Cheers and thanks again :)
