Australia legalized MDMA and psilocybin for depression treatment

The Australian Department of Health has authorized the use of 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methamphetamine (MDMA) for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psilocybin for the treatment of treatment-resistant depression.
Authorized psychiatrists approved by the ministry will be able to prescribe drugs containing these substances from July 1st.
Now, Australia has become the first country to allow the treatment of mental disorders with psychedelics.
In addition, the Drug Administration moved these substances from the Prohibited List to the Controlled List when prescribed as a treatment.
However, there are currently no FDA-approved drugs that contain MDMA and psilocybin.
However, now psychiatrists will have access to non-approved drugs with these substances in order to legally prescribe them to patients as part of clinical trials.
According to some scientists, the use of these psychedelics can cause fear, panic and re-traumatization, so more complete and detailed studies of their effectiveness are needed.
