OPEN CAMERA - Turn your phone into a power house image making machine!

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Open Camera is a game changer for cellphone photographers!

I practice photography a lot, as a hobby and professionally. Slowly I have been sharing images from my portfolio but today I want to share this gem. Its an app, for your phone.

Yeah that's right, I'm a photographer and I am encouraging people to use their phones to make great snaps. Why not? I do all the time. Sometimes I just don't have my DSLR handy.

The app is free and will totally up your game doing photography, it allows more control over the settings of your phone camera. While it can't compensate for the quality of image sensor or mega-pixels in your phones camera it can give you control over things like ISO, FOCUS, WHITE BALANCE and a few other features too.

No I am not being paid to advertise this app - its free and open source, it's just every time I use it, it has blown my mind.

Check out these images i've taken using the app!

Good info @satchmo, thank you. There is one thing: Moon photo can't be done without some added optics. What did you use?

Thanks! I shot through the viewfinder of my telescope. In above comment i posted this and my settings. But hahaha ya needed a telescope. 🌚

Thank you so much!

Impressive photos .. Is the app android only?

Fantastic shot of the moon :)

I am not sure if its available for iOS but these were shot with the app on a samsung S6.. the moon i actually shot through the viewfinder of my telescope but i needed this app to give me more control of the exposure. If i recall i dropped the exppsure setting and set the iso to 100 for it. The moon was too bright and the Android camera app wasnt cutting it.

Thanks for the comment!

Thanks for reminding me about this, this might fix the odd colour problems I got with some of my macro shots where yellow flowers were green. The Blackview BV6000 I have, for a rugged phone, its camera is stellar...

no problem. I always had run into problem of not enough custom setting using my phone, and the recent android update for the camera app is so meh.

Thank you for the info, nice photos and good post:)

Thank you, glad it's helpful!

Unfortunately, it doesn't exist for iOS. I checked. Will keep an eye on it though.

That is highly unfortunate.. I wouldn't know any apps on iOS .. wonder how to get it to the apple store.

I'd guess that apple probably wouldn't approve it anyway. iOS is for sure a more secure OS but android 7 is not that far behind.

no clue what the apple rules for the app store are but you are right on android, infact blackberry has been working with google on android and improved the security.

liked and followed :)

Thank you!!!

That's awesome. I'm always taking shots with my phone because what person carries their camera around with them everywhere they go? I'm downloading now to try it out, thank.

Great app, I use it on my phone. All my phone-shots are made with its help:-)

Wow 😳 good sharp photos. Good tip Thanks

Hahaha thanks!
