The Decriminalize Denver campaign defied odds and expectations. Psilocybin was just entering into the mainstream lexicon, there weren’t any large and monied psychedelics advocacy groups chipping in and voter confusion about what it meant to decriminalize—rather than allow retail sales like is the case for marijuana—threatened to derail the bold initiative.

Maryland: Governor Vetoes Bill Shielding Marijuana-Related Convictions from Public View
Republican Gov. Larry Hogan has vetoed legislation, House Bill 83, which sought to prohibit “the Maryland Judiciary Case Search from in any way referring to the existence of a certain case in which possession of marijuana is the only charge in the case and the charge was disposed.” The database provides public access to the case records of the Maryland Judiciary.

Early details about the measure were released in December. And on Friday, the government shared the full proposal, which would make it legal for adults 20 and older to purchase and possess cannabis, cultivate two plants for personal use and visit marijuana “coffee shops” where on-site consumption would be allowed. Individuals would be able to purchase up to 14 grams of cannabis from licensed retailers and also gift up to 14 grams to another adult.

On Tuesday, Marijuana Moment reported that the Council unanimously approved emergency legislation that would allow ballot initiative campaigns to distribute their petitions electronically and therefore remotely gather signatures. Although voters would still have to physically sign printed sheets, they would be able to scan them and send them back to the campaign headquarters. The new legislation would also allow ballot petitioners to sign their own petitions (until this point, they instead have had to sign one controlled to a separate voter, which is made more difficult due to quarantine orders).
