As we all know, It’s that period of the year again when people all over the world will begin to prepare to celebrate Christmas with their family and friends. We all may have many expectations of what is to come leading up to December 25th, because if not, I have mine.

Some people might want to ask the question.... why do we have Christmas?

Basically, Christmas is celebrated because of the birth of Jesus.
Have you ever wonder why the whole world doesn’t celebrate your birthday? Take a moment and picture the world celebrating your birthday, how cool it would be...
So why is Jesus so special? I believe one reason is that Jesus said he was God.

If you look at Buddha or other religious leaders, most often it was their followers who declared them “god” long after they were dead. In this light, Jesus clearly and repetitively told people he was God... Jesus said he could give people eternal life and also forgiveness for their sins… which clearly belong only to God.

Christmas is always loaded with expectations, isn’t it? such as Christmas shopping, decorating and entertaining. Basically people knock themselves out trying to make a perfect Christmas. However, sometimes we just end up with an empty feeling... like Christmas wasn’t as personally fulfilling as one hoped it would.

Now Picture yourself seated at a beautifully decorated Christmas dining table with me playing cheerful soft Christmas carols with my saxophone a twinkling Christmas tree stands at the background. Now picture your family and relatives all sitting together around the table under the same environment.

For some time now, I have been practicing some Christmas Carols with my saxophone along side with my other friends playing the trumpet in preparation for Christmas eve and Christmas day itself. This idea is to keep the streets of our neighborhood warm and lively with music as a way of celebrating Christmas. We have practiced closed to 35 songs and we hope for the best within this period.

Finally i'd end by saying that there is no greater joy at Christmas than coming into a relationship with Jesus. Too many times we have drain ourselves out, driven by our expectations to have the perfect Christmas. All of the decorating, shopping, entertaining never fully meets our deepest needs. For this day to be special, we simply need to receive Jesus gift to us…. which is a relationship with him.
