How my amazon account was hacked and how I regained access

Today morning, I woke up to a nasty surprise. I recieved an email from amazon that I had changed my primary email id. I had not done so. I became alert and tried logging in but I got the message that my email id was not associated with amazon at all.

I started to panic but searched for amazon customer care and sent an email. I tried calling but could not reach them. By now, the full impact of this hit me. I had lost access to all my amazon sister accounts as well.

How I regained access

I searched online and thankfully, was able to see an fb comment where the user said that the hacker could not have been able to change the password. As per his instructions, I tried to use the hacker email and my password to login. I was successful. This was a moment I really thanked God.

After that, I changed the email and used the two way verification method to secure the account. Obviously, I changed my password too. Lesson learned the hard way.

Please change passwords often
Please use two way verification, if available
Please never click strange email links
Please never reveal too much info. on social networks
