North American Friday (and Friday Blue) - The Pantages Hollywood
This is my entry for North American Friday, the daily 7 World's Continents Photo Challenge hosted by the awesome @czechglobalhosts. To find out more about how to enter this contest or just to look at the great entries, you can go here. It's also my submission for the Friday Blue #colorchallenge!
The Hollywood Pantages Theatre opened in 1930 right next to the corner of Hollywood and Vine. It began as both a first run movie theater as well as a vaudeville theater but the Great Depression forced it to become a movie theater only. It's biggest claim to fame was hosting the Academy Awards from 1949 to 1959, meaning classics such as All About Eve and On the Waterfront won Best Picture here at this theater. The movie theater closed in 1977, but reopened in the 1990's for live stage productions of touring Broadway musicals that still continue today. And this theater is such a part of my neighborhood that I took this photo this morning on my way home from the gym!
Awesome dude, this one works so well!
