Taking Stock in What Matters

Reflecting

While I have a few days off from it all, I want to try to reflect a little and see if there are changes I should make based on how I am spending my FREE time. Being away from home and work really free you mentally. No thoughts about work, no pressure of the To Do list that we all battle with. Not feelings of guilt when you watch TV or take a nap, this is supposed to be down time.

First Observation

The Internet - I love you but you got to go. Well, at least some of you.

  1. Trading View / MarketWatch / Yahoo Finance
I started my interest in all things money at an early age. I was the kid reading stock prices in the morning paper, it explains a lot really. In the past few years, I fell into the rabbit hole of directing my investments more than just the index funds. I have had some big wins, and potential losses if/when I sell. I got into reading charts, and really thought I had the time to learn to read them like the pros. What I have found is I don't have the passion to follow through. While I like looking at prices and charts, 5min, 15min, 30,min, 1 hr, 4 hr charts and looking for trends - It does not make me happier. Checking multiple times a day for the leading stories - not value add. Honestly none of it matters. If it is a big enough story, someone will will me. I can spend 5 min at the end of the day reading headlines and know about as much.

  2. Crypto prices
None of it matters. Tracking prices, finding a good time to buy when I don't have the cash to buy. It doesn't matter, I will now look at prices when I am ready to buy, and see how I feel. Watching STEEM prices daily does nothing, and honestly if it pop, my Discord brothers will tell me before I see it!

  3. Silver and Gold Prices
Again - this does not matter. Not one bit. I am a stacker.. I Buy silver and sometimes Gold as I can afford it (and sometimes I go way over budget) I am going keep buying. and when I ask how much and they tell me a prices that makes me go WTF - How much? I know its time to sell the junk I don't like. I went to the LCS today and bout.. I asked about how the market was and he said up a dime, but I didn't even know where it was yesterday. I had just say, sorry, not sure where its been lately.

Watching these prices have added stress - I have felt it creep in. Prices going up or down, portfolio shifts in prices that will change again tomorrow. None of this matters, I am in it for the long haul and the day to day is noise.

I am taking back a few minuets of my day next week. I am going to cut out this stuff, its OK if I am the last to know something. We will see what I notice tomorrow about what else I want to change.

For my SSG crew

You read it right - I went to the LCS - got another 6 ounces today to go with the the 17 I got two days ago. This is going to be a fun research and posting for a few days. I need to drag it out because this absolutely drained the fiat silver reserves.

Stack on!!

Hey, @senstless.

Don't blame you for unplugging and not paying attention to prices, be it stocks, crypto, precious metals or otherwise. Watching it bounce along, surge and nosedive can drive one crazy. We either invest for the long term, or we probably shouldn't be doing a whole lot anyway.

I say that being an information junkie—and yet, since I've been on Steemit, I don't really go looking for all of what I used to read. I probably should temper that a little, and am getting back into it, but the ups and downs of this market and that market, or the political back and forth between all of the different loud voices, or the endless speculation about whatever–who needs it? Apparently, not me. :)

Trying to find that balance will be the challenge. I want to sulport and read those that I am friends with, as well as learn. Just need to make sure I am not wadting time in an echo chamber hearing what I want.
