Andy Warhol's Shot Sage Blue Marilyn (Could break the auction record?) - Club100
Hi Art Lovers, Andy Warhol's portrait of Marilyn Monroe who considered the Mona Lisa of the 20th century, is planned to be sold for $200 million. Therefore, the work may be the most expensive piece of art of the 20th century.
The Shot Sage Blue Marilyn work is up for sale by the Christie Auction House. This 1964 piece by the artist, if sold at the auction house's target price, would become the most expensive 20th-century piece ever sold at auction.

Shot Sage Blue Marilyn
Warhol began producing these works after Marilyn's death. It is a technique that reproduces images onto paper or canvas using a layer.
Warhol's interest in graphic art was instrumental in creating the idea of a mass-produced work. Therefore, you must have seen these portraits of Marilyn in various colors. Because the artist has created countless versions of Monroe's portrait.
His 1962 painting White Marilyn was sold at auction for $41 million in 2014.
So his Marilyn pictures are selling for good prices.
The auction record for a 20th-century painting belongs to Pablo Picasso. Picasso's Les Femmes d'Alger sold for $179.4 million in 2015.

Les Femmes d'Alge
I added the most costly artworks list that was sold at auction.

Record artworks
The owner of the work Swiss art dealer Thomas Ammann, announced that the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Thomas and Doris Ammann Foundation Zurich. This foundation provides health and education assistance to children. It makes more meaningful to sell it for such a beautiful purpose.
I'm curious if this painting will break the record among the works of the 20th year. We will see :))

@serap she keeps trending even after death. People selling her print and also printing them on clothes.

Here is a portrait of her I did recently with graphite pencil.
Yes, I completely agree with you about her popularity. I really liked your drawing with all of her details. Her hair looks pretty natural. The shading and lighting on her face look perfect. Thank you so much for sharing :)
It is a very cool artwork, the artist has played with the colours in a fantastic way making Marilyn more iconic, now, really the direction of her sale is amazing, I think they do spend a lot is of $ on collecting cars and paintings just to have them kept, this motif that is more "human" . I hope it can be sold soon, although knowing how strange the world moves anything is possible.
I also really like Andy's way of playing with colors. Definitely big bucks. I hope it sells. Thanks for your comment :)
@serap If it is for the education and health of children, it should be sold, wow it would be a success, there is every millionaire without knowing what to do with the money that may be achieved, but as a saying goes in my country, we will wake up and see 🤷♀️ Greetings.
Exactly, I hope it is sold as the income goes to the education and health of the children. It is what we want to see on behalf of humanity that the rich add strength to goodness with their economic power. I liked the saying you used in your country. There is a very similar saying in my country: Let it be morning, until then, good things happen :)
A lovely artwork of Andy! Thanks for sharing with us.
Yes, I like Andy's this work, too. It looks so energetic :) Thanks for your comment :)
