Desirable Difficulty; Its theory

By definition, Dyslexic people have difficulties in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but that do not affect general intelligence.

Dyslexia makes people find it difficult to read fast and talk fast and pronounce words correctly. It would take a Dyslexic child or adult 6 to 8 hours to read 20 pages of a book. So they are very careful with words and sounds and they are meticulous and pay attention to details.

Few Dyslexic children end up in a juvenile system because they tend to act up to fall along. But most others conquer their handicaps and they become extraordinary people in the society and are successful entrepreneurs. Examples of Dyslexic people includes Davis Neeleman, the founder of Jetblue, John Chambers, CEO of Cisco, Gary Cohn, CEO and founder of Goldman Sachs, etc.

Success requires occasional difficulties. Ability to conquer one's weaknesses is the true measure of success. The circumstances may not be in your favor most of the time as you journey through life but what you do in those situations stands you out.

The actor, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) was overly criticized due to his physique in his teenage and early Adulthood. Initially he felt bad but later on he went and started gym. Today he is worth millions of dollars due to his persistence.

Most successful or rich people were born in poor homes. Some of them were told that they can't succeed, but they proved their critiques wrong. Someone rightly said that the best form of revenge is success.

Let your motivation be to help humanity.

King Saul was chasing David and David was getting stronger. He built an army of giant killers while in the wilderness. After David and his 600 special forces returned to Ziklag, they were exhausted to pursue the Amalekite raiders, but David after encouraging himself in the Lord pursued and overtook the hooligans and recovered all. These men helped David conquer the Palestinian region in those days. These men were misfits, rejected by society and seen as rebels but David reinvented them and they became mighty men of Valor. They conquered their difficulties.

What's the import of this? When the Lord allows us to go through undesirable situations, we need to be positive and find out His will in it. It was undesirable for the three Hebrew children to go through fire but they did it anyway and brought glory to God. It was undesirable for Daniel to go to the lions den but God's name was glorified. It was undesirable for Jesus to come and die for us but He did anyway because of the joy that was set before Him.

You see, faith doesn't deny the facts (difficult terrains, circumstances, reality) rather it recognizes the will of God. Faith sees a healing evangelist from a sick person, it sees an evangelist from a mad man at Gadara, it sees an apostle from a Murderer.

I encourage you today to see every difficulty you are in today as an opportunity to excel. Use your Handicaps to your advantage. The God who brought you into this world and allowed those circumstances or difficulties to come to you knows why and it will work for good for you.

Hold your head up high and beat your chest and say "I know that all things will work together for good for me in any difficult situations I face in life, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
