We Own the Sunset, We Own the Sky

This is a poem that I wrote about taking a leap of faith, whether it be in love, business, pursuing your dreams, or whatever it is that you are afraid to do.

Come along with me baby
Come along for the ride
We own the sunset
We own the sky

I know you have questions
But you have to have faith
Wrap your arms around me
And I’ll keep you safe

You want to stay grounded
Because it’s safer down there
It’s harder to breathe
In the rarified air

You fear you’ll feel light-headed
And lose your senses
Sometimes you just have to
Lower your defences

Come along with me baby
Come along for the ride
We own the sunset
We own the sky

You know that I love you
Though I can’t see your face
Step off that cliff
Take a leap of faith

The fall will be sudden
You’ll plummet at light-speed
You’ll hear your heart pounding
And you’ll feel at peace

You’ll spread your arms out
Let the air rush by
You are part of the sunset
You are part of the sky

I’ll grab your hand
And we’ll fly together
Now that we’re free
We’ll fly forever
