Hope everyone is well. Alhamdulillah, I am also very well. Today I appeared to participate in the running SLC22/WK2: Electrical Earthing and Motor Control Circuits competition. At the beginning of the competition, thank you very much @mahadisalim sir for giving us such a beautiful competition.

In my country the importance of using earthing is immense. Because it protects us from electric shocks due to electrical faults, injuries caused by excess voltage and more. If an electrical equipment or any other reason causes excess unwanted electricity, it is safely sent deep into the ground through earthing so that there is no problem with the electrical equipment. Also, if any fault causes excess voltage to enter the power system, then it also results in a major accident. can happen To avoid these accidents, earthing is used, as a result of which the unwanted current is safely sent deep into the ground. As a result, electrical equipment, houses and human life are protected.
Below are some differences between earthing and neutral.
S.L | Earthing | Neutral |
---|---|---|
1 | The method of sending the metal parts of electrical equipment deep into the ground is called Earthing | The path through which the current is sent back to the electrical circuit is called Neutral. |
2 | Transmits unwanted excess electricity safely deep into the ground. | Send electricity back to keep current flowing in the circuit. |
3 | Protects people and equipment from electric current damage. | Maintaining proper electrical current balance in the circuit. |
4 | Current flows only during faults. | Current always flows. |
5 | Used for protection. | Used to complete electrical circuits. |
6 | Usually green color or yellow-green combination cable is used. | Usually blue color cable is used. |
Rod earthing is used for low electrical load and low cost use. And since my house consumes low load electricity, I use rod earthing at home. Rod earthing is commonly used for neutral and body earthing. I use rod earthing to protect my home from many hazards caused by electrical faults:-
• A fault in the electrical system causes excess unwanted current to flow deep into the ground.
• Protects against electric shock.
• Helps stabilize the electrical system.
• Acts as a deterrent to fire from leaking metal parts.
We all should use earthing to avoid electrical damage. For home use we should use Rod earthing. Because it is used for low loads, it is also very cheap.
- GI wire(8 mm)
- A metal rod (16 mm)
- Necessary coal and salt.
First I chose a good spot near our house for rod earthing. The reason for choosing this place is that it seems to be quite humid compared to other places. Then I start digging the soil. Since I initially chose a slightly moist spot, after only a few feet I found moist soil suitable for rod earthing.
Then I started the earthing process:-
First I dug out an old earthing rod that had been lying around our house for a long time. A lot of soil accumulated on the rods and they became hard. So I rinsed the rod thoroughly with clean water.
Then I found a very old 8mm GI wire in my room. The body of the GI wire was very dusty. To clean it I take a clean cloth and wipe the GI wire and remove the dust and connect it well to the earthing rod.
