Hunter's comment
The designers of this product have removed all the unnecessary elements to make a simple yet perfect knife. They have mentioned this on their Kickstarter campaign, "What does a folding knife need? A blade, a handle and a screw. No more, no less. Following the axiomatic maxim "less is more,” ODA keeps it simple: one single folded titanium frame, a simple high-quality aluminum screw, and a super-b quality VG-10 blade. We have removed all other useless elements. All that remains is elegant lighting and exquisite beauty."
There are very interesting reasons behind coming up with such a product and I would like to qoute as mentioned on Kickstarter page about all this:
Oda Clan
"It takes its name and symbol from the ODA clan (織田氏), a family of Japanese daimyōs (feudal lords) who became an important political force in the unification of Japan in the mid-16th century. They reached their climax under its ruler Oda Nobunaga."
Sakura
Cherry blossom or Sakura is another important element of Japanese culture. As mentioned on the website, they have explained it this way: "In Japan, cherry blossoms symbolize the ephemeral nature of life. Sakura is associated with mortality and exquisite beauty. It is also associated with ready acceptance of destiny. For that reason, Sakura has been utilized often in every aspect of the Japanese culture.
We have tried to reflect all of these attributes on ODA, a lightness and subtle beauty, a piece of the destiny designed to last for ages."
