Aya Sofia

in #tr7 years ago

It was previously converted to a mosque by Muhammad al-Fateh in May 1453 and then to a religious museum in 1935, located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the most prominent examples of Byzantine architecture and Ottoman decoration.

Emperor Gistian began building this church in 532 AD, and it took about five years to build it. It was officially opened in 537 CE. Justinian did not want to build a church in the style of his time. This is a clear indication of the progress of the construction students in Asia Minor in the era of Justinian, so there is no longer any need to call in engineers from Rome for the construction of the Byzantine buildings. .

The historian Procopius, one of the historians of the Justinian era, tells us that Justinian was very impressed with the building, which was not called any of the saints, but was called the divine or holy wisdom of St. Sophia. He also quoted Justinian as saying, "O Sulaiman al-Hakim, you have surpassed you." He was superior to the Prophet Sulayman al-Hakim, who used to mock the jinn to build great buildings.

However, about ten years after the construction of the building, the eastern part of the building was cracked as a result of a landslide in Istanbul. A large part of the large dome fell, and Justinian ordered it to be rebuilt again. The building was supported by the dome. Which still exist, and which has been able to withstand all events since its construction.
