Ironically it is the next logical step from what we have been moving toward for quite a long time! Beyond Bitcoin started with the cryptocurrency bitshares where they funded us for our beginnings (at least for the very basics).
Steem offers us new tools to use for community enrichment and empowerment---and that is what I foam at the mouth for. Not sure why, but it just makes me extremely happy to try to bring people together :)

The mumble is open 24/7 too, and anyone can record their own hangouts for any community. I'll gladly upvote them if they are decent attempts at quality blockchain based community efforts :)
