FREE SCREENING DAY

The day was set for free medical screening of my community members as I got set to open my new drug store

A Day before the event;All was set for the opening

A Banner was made a week earlier sensitizing community members on the event

By 8 am on the said date , scores of people had gathered in front of the store waiting to be screened see picture below

By 9am ,we had started the exercise
We screened everybody for the following :
Hepatitis B surface antigen test
Hepatitis C test
Retroviral screen
Malaria RDT for Falciparum
Blood pressure
Random Blood Sugar

General advice was given to those who needed more attention and those that had adverse results were referred to Manhyia District Hospital

Basic testing equipments such as the manual sphygmomanometer,RDT test strips on top of the show case ;screening was underway

Some leaders of the community including the chief imam came around to show appreciation on behalf of the community members .
Someone from the crowd said something funny that cracked me up

The programme ended successfully with 68 people in all screened.
I took 2 days off duty to run this programme
Early the next morning I was on my way back to Navrongo (a journey of about 8 hours ) back to my work station

In a bus back to Navrongo after a successful programme

It was quite a self fulfilling event as I felt great serving a community I grew in and in effect giving back to community
