A moderate earthquake struck Saturday in Assam's northeastern state of Assam. The level of the Richter scale was 5. Officials in the country said this. News Xinhua

India's Meteorological Department said the earthquake hit at 6:44 pm local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was from Kisharkhara in Assam to the west of the capital of Assam.

Earthquake felt throughout the state, officials said. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
