My photo equipment #2 : salsa and canon 135mm F2
A few days ago, I made an article about my photographic equipment.
To continue this series of articles, I present a small focus on the Canon 135mm L F2.
All the photos present on this article were made last Wednesday (July 7th) with a sunny weather between 7 and 10pm during an outdoor dance party that I organized with my school of dance in Strasbourg.

For those who know the Canon 135mm f / 2 L known that this lens meets all its criteria. The images it produces are crisp, well built, powerful and will not cost you as much as the usual "recommendations". Its only defect, it is not known to the amateurs and it is a shame because this lens is worth it is devoted a few lines in this blog.

An all-rounder
The Canon 135mm f / 2 L is a bit of an old lens, but it has all the qualities of the L-series lenses. When you handle it for the first time, you will realize that it is a lens that is apparently commonplace, but To a great potential. Indeed, it is discrete given its focal length.
It is also relatively lightweight because it does not contain any additional elements such as a zoom, it allows the use of a filter with a relatively small diameter (72mm) and does not have Image stabilization. No! You read well, no stabilization. This does not prevent it from being usable at slow speeds if you know how to do it.

This lens is well designed; Its body is made of a black metal, no seal protects her against the rain. Its weight is comparable to Canon 16-35 mm f / 2.8 L or 24mm f / 1.4. In short, despite the fact that it is a small telephoto, it does attract attention and will make you a photographer who will go unnoticed, Practical especially in the streets of a city among the crowd.
Picture's Quality
The images produced by this lens are excellent. The chromatic aberrations are little present, although not totally invisible with scenes of high contrast. But this goal also has a rare quality; It gives the white sweet transitions, a little as if your device suddenly has a larger dynamic range.

I really think anyone can make good pictures with this goal. With a tight focal range perfect for portraits while retaining a blurred background, the 135 f / 2 is ideal for photographs attracted by human shapes, for photojournalists also looking for a saving of weight and space. Compatible with the Canon 1.4x teleconverter, you can easily have a f/2.8 lens of 189mm if you wish.

Conclusion
The Canon 135 f / 2 L is a lens that requires adaptation time, but once you master it, you can no longer do without it. Mounting on APS-C sensor it becomes a 216mm, which is perhaps a lot for everyday use, so you may prefer to be more suitable equivalent; The 85mm (equivalent to a 136mm). But as much to warn you, that you choose another one of these lenses, they are bokeh machines, producing beautiful images, apparently, without even wanting to.
