Dragon ……. Bar/coin????

Afternoon everyone….

I’ve had quite a lot of frustration in the last several days using a different front end. Hopefully this is all cured now…..

Ships, dragons and skulls are my favorite theme for silver. Aside from collector coins meaning numismatic coins, they probably make up a good chunk of my no generic stack.

One of the really great things about being a part of a great community such as the silvergoldstackers is that you find out about coins or rounds that you didn’t even know existed until someone from the group did a post on them. @kerrislravenhill has provided me with numerous items over the years to hunt down. Our likes of coins and unusual silver align quite well.

So when the Perth Mint began the one ounce dragon coin in the shape of a one ounce bar. I was all over it…. I believe this series started in 2018 but I’m not 100% sure. While I do have them all, I don’t have all of them at my disposal currently.

Here is some info on the coin….
The Australian Rectangular Dragon bullion coin series from the Perth Mint is a distinctive release that offers up the worlds first-ever rectangular legal tender coins. The collection features 1 oz silver and gold bullion coins, with proof specimens also available. The mint uses new designs on the reverse each year, with that design shared by the silver and gold coins for each date mark.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse of all 2020 Australian Rectangular Dragon Silver Coins in the sixth-generation design from Jody Clark. Mr. Clark became the youngest artist ever to create a monarch portrait for the Royal Mint of England when he completed this design in 2015. Adapted for Perth Mint and Australian denominations in 2019, the design used here includes the Queens neckline and shoulders for the first time since 1966. Inscriptions include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 1 oz 9999 Ag above her portrait, with 1 Dollar and 2020 below.

Reverse

Two dragons are shown on the reverse design element of the 2020 Australian Rectangular Dragon 1 oz Silver Coins. This years image features two slithering Chinese dragons maneuvering around the flaming pearl at the heart of the design element. A P mint mark from the Perth Mint is featured in the lower left.

It’s a great series especially if you are a dragon fan.

Now for the coin….
