Honor One Another – Romans 12:10

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

This is an easy verse to follow through with when we’re talking about someone who we believe is honorable. However, what do we do when we’re talking about someone who we don’t believe is honorable? At least not in certain areas. What do we do then? Just ignore this verse the best we can? Of course not.

This is best addressed when we consider what the first part of the verse says. It says “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.” Regardless of our view towards someone, we are to be devoted to them in brotherly love. This truly falls under the command of loving your neighbor as yourself and even Yeshua’s instruction to do unto others as we would have them do to us. Yeshua’s words are basically saying the same thing as the command.

Here’s the thing. Don’t complain about someone if you haven’t first been praying for them. I’m not talking about praying about them. I’m talking about praying for them.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

Perhaps, the less honorable we judge them to be (who are we to judge anyway?), the more they need our love? To me this speaks about social responsibility, community, the responsibility we have to our fellow man, now and in the future. Forethought in words and actions. We all have the power to help others in some way. We could change the world if we all actually did that, don't you think? Every man for himself is so terribly ugly.

Love your neighbor as yourself, sound simple but so hard to do for a lot of people! Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

What are you doing on Sunday evening?

The only plan I currently have for Sunday is to work on my tomato patch I have growing over at a friends house, needing to get a weed barrier down. I also might do some work on my garage roof.

Soooo what's up @papa-pepper??

I'll be returning from Wisconsin to the Ozarks that day, and passing through your area sometime in the afternoon or evening.... any chance you want to meet up?

There's always a chance!! Do you pass by East Peoria?

I drive by the West side of Bloomington, so I'll be in the area. Also, do you know anyone who bowfishes on the Illinios River for Asian Carp? It's on my bucket list this summer, but I've got no contacts yet.

I'm kind of a ways out from Bloomington. If you do decide to come and bowfish that would put you much closer to where I am at!

The only one that I am aware of that does that is called Peoria Carp Hunters.

Right, I could just redirect my path south if you want.... or we could try sometime in the next month or two if I make it back to bowfish.... your call.

Come on man!!! Looks like we are going to have try again when you come blowfishing. We will have to exchange phone numbers or something sooner next time so we can make this happen! Have a great Sabbath!

Howdy sir simms50! Very good word. I don't know if it matters but is he talking about fellow Believers here?

I think that he is....but at the same time I think he is talking about non-believers too! We are to be a light unto the world to both those who believe and those who do not!

yeah I think you're right!
