Steemit Crypto Academy Feedback
It's indeed a great privilege once again to write in the academy. I am so honoured to be part of those writing on the feedbacks needed by the steemitblog. It is important to mention here that I have been in attendance from the beginning of they steemit crypto academy season till date. For that reason, I believe my feedback encompasses all the happenings from season one to season five of the academy. Let's dive into my little observation about the academy so far.
Here in this section, I will be discussing my observation or feedback based on the following questions.
- What worked well with the Academy
- What did not work well
- How you would improve the Academy? What changes would you make for future seasons of the Academy?
- What did you think of the marking scheme for Academy posts? And the rewards available?
- What I Enjoy most, what you learnt from the Academy, how I have extended my crypto learning, the crypto currencies I have started trading because of the knowledge gained.
What worked well with the Academy
Professors did well in selecting topics to deliver to students based on the level they are teaching.
Introductory courses in the academy does not have expiring dates as it starts with the seasons of the academy and that helps a lot especially to those who are new to the academy.
Votes given by curators are given based on the grade and the level of task you are participating and that is quite encouraging as most students strive to earn more votes by trying to advance to the the higher level.
The number of task given weekly is encouraging as it keeps everyone busy within the week. We learn and then increase our earning by participating in all the assignment.
Grading of the task and the minimum mark that should be gotten before your post will be considered for voting is a very good initiative as it has help in no small way to improve the level in which people work harder to create more quality and original content.
The issues of banding student in the academy is actually a good initiative because it has help to reduce the number of plaigarism content to the bearest minimum in the academy.
What did not work well
Despite all that has worked well in the academy, a lot of things still did not work well too. And I will be listing few of the things I think that did not work well with the Academy.
The grading structure in the academy is not properly organised I.e it does not follow a proper format. All the professors have their various grading format and that I believe does not make the academy unique.
The rules and regulations in the academy is becoming too much. Though, I believe they are mainly to improve the price of steem and also maintain a standard but that has discouraged many students from participating fully in the academy. Some of this rules include the compulsory power up at least 150SP every month, Reputation criteria, #club5050 etc just to mention but a few.
Professors in the academy most especially in the beginners tiers will lecture and after that will request students to perform a real transaction of at least $10 or $15 in the assignment. This I don't think it's necessary because we have a demo trading account, really trading should not be done in beginners level but instead in advance level.
Some tasks, given by the professors, always need you to have more advance machine which I don't think is necessary. We are learning and that is true but if a task is given where we have to purchase some sophisticated machine before carrying out that task then such task shouldnt be given out within the timeframe as most of use end up wasting time and resource with achieving the goal at the end.
The levels are divided into three and that is good, but it is not good to give someone with a higher reputation like someone in advance the reward of winning in the beginners tiers. What I mean is that once your reputation is of advance, you should be consider as winner in advance and not in any of the other categories as there are others with reputation of that level which should be consider for the reward since it is there level.
Homework task should be curated after they have been graded by the professor to avoid reposting of homework on the Academy. Most of our task expire after grading without votes and that has been a serious issue in the academy as many students complain almost on daily basis about it.
How you would improve the Academy? What changes would you make for future seasons of the Academy?
In my own opinion, the academy can be improve if some of this points listed below are taken into consideration.
A well structured grading system should be used by all the professor and then a certain mark should be allocated to the marking scheme. Example, markdown: 2 marks, spelling and grammer: 2 marks etc.
Curation of post that has been graded by the professors should be done before 48 hours so as to reduce the number of uncurated post which expires almost everytime and this will eliminate the reposting issues in the academy.
To reduce plagiarism, all those involve should be band from the academy for a season and not forever. Alot of persons are wishing to come back to the academy.
Since we are encouraging investment, I will increase the votes for all those who are able to keep or maintain the #club5050, #club75 and the #club100.
I will make provision to reward consistent students who are able to work through out the season. The may not be winners of any categories but I will reward their consistency.
A scheme of work as regarding the courses to be cover in a season should be given, this will enable students to know the courses they will be covering within the season and then that will make them perform little research before the course is delivered by the professor.
Questions in the academy should be based on a certain standard and not every professor given numbers of questions in his discretion. Take for instance the question for beginners can be 3 questions that of intermediate can be 5 questions and advance can be 6 questions. So professors should not set questions more than this based on their level.
What did you think of the marking scheme for Academy posts? And the rewards available?
What I Enjoy most, what you learnt from the Academy, how I have extended my crypto learning, the crypto currencies I have started trading because of the knowledge gained.
