Coffee plantations in aceh have been developed since 1905, there are two types of coffee grown in aceh, arabica coffee and robusta coffee between two types of coffee is very famous is arabica coffee, arabica coffee is commonly planted in the highlands of aceh the middle and southeast aceh, whereasfor robusta or if in aceh better known as "Ulee Kareeng coffee" which is widely planted by people in pidie and Aceh Barat area.
the coffee grown is a green tree that is rather large and dark, the leaves are oval, the height of the tree reaches seven meters.

but on the coffee plantations, the height of this tree is kept within the range of 2 to 4 meters for easy harvest time, the coffee trees in Aceh begin to bear fruit at the age of three years after planting and have a very wide land of nearly 100,000 ha.

the coffee farming community of aceh grows coffee organically without chemicals, so the original taste of Aceh coffee contained in a distinctive aroma that is fragrant is not bitter and very beneficial to health.
