My Billy Boy

in #blog7 years ago

For so long I said I would never get a dog, I love cats more, and just that for me dogs are too dependent.I have always have had cats, so when my new cat Aki came I just felt like I always have prepared and safe.Cats are cute, smart and independent. However Aki came from a friend and he was used to live a life I couldn't give him.

Aki is a Turkish van cat and Orange tabby mix.

But well this is not about Aki but my boy Billy, Billy came home from a foster house, he was about 1 month and 2 weeks, he looked sick, was full of ticks, mites and fleas, I tried giving him a shower and right after that VET TIME.

That day we discovered Billy was also sick with a liver disease, and that he might last less than 2 months since he had worms inside his heart or Heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis.

His stomach looked huge but he was almost never fed, I was told that his dog family hated him since they were a big pack and he was the smallest one and had too fight for food, at just 1 month old with other dogs who where 3 times bigger than him, Billy is a Terrier and chihuahua.

I came home with vets instructions, soap for the fleas and ticks and lots of medication, I also had to give the dog 1 pill daily for his liver plus something for his anemia, making my dog eat was a must. He would spend the whole day sleeping and hardly ever move his ears or tail. For a month I followed the vet instructions, but later I went to a second opinion, while she agreed with almost everything the other vet said,

she also added.

"If Billy gets enough love he would get better since his sadness is his worst sickness now, look he is 2 months old and needs his real mom, (dog mom) because being love is crucial for any being".

Oh!, trust me by that time Billy was more than a Cat he was a little creature who needed my care and dedication, this was a challenge for me, I had woken up at 5 am every day Sunday to sunday non stop and gone bed at 12 pm To make sure Billy was following his routine, eating well, going out to see the sun, and training him.

He was almost 4 months I was prepared for the worst Billy had vomited and had had fever for a few days, when I went to the vet again, she notice no more ticks or fleas. I also have to add I also was taking care of Aki since even when I couln't give Aki a self apartment or a pool ( Van cats need to swim and be near water and his old owner lived on a hotel he told me Aki had a room for him self and used to eat at the table). So Aki became Billys bother they would sleep together and play all day.

She added "Billy looks different now".

I told her he had vomited, she said that it might be his food, so I changed his food, and he started growing after that.
I never imagined him coming to be a medium size dog, I though he was going to fit inside my purse forever.

And yes! Billy is 8 months now, he is Healthy, happy and the love of my life, also one of the reason why I haven't posted in so long. He moves his tail and ears, xD he hates photos sometimes and he loves chatting with my friends. (He really does hahahha)

I changed my mind about dogs maybe I was just afraid of the responsibilities and my son Billy had taught me a lot. <3
