Slangtionary! “The Open Dictionary” Project Introduction, Built on Steem Through GitHub & Utopian.io – Join Us
After a lot of thinking and planning, I can finally present you with the official Slangtionary open-source project introduction through the official Slangtionary steem account.
What Is Slangtionary?
Slangtionary is an open online dictionary where you can contribute words with accompanying definitions in exchange for upvotes earning you rewards in steem. Slangtionary is a fully open-source project hosted on GitHub (an online platform hosting open-source code) and rewarding contributors via Utopian.io (an online platform allowing open-source contributors to earn rewards for their hard-work). This the first project fully utilizing GitHub & Utopian.io to create a completely community-built online application from idea to production.
If you have ever heard of the Urban Dictionary, Slangtioary is like the Steem alternative which rewards contributors for their work with more features.
What is Steem?
Steem is a blockchain-based rewards platform allowing content creators to earn rewards through up-votes (likes) by posting content. The more up-votes a single post (article, video, etc.) receives, the more rewards (steem) the creator and up-voters will earn. Steem blockchain includes zero transaction fees and very high scalability. Learn more at Steem.io
How Will Slangtionary Work?
After launch, users can use their Steem accounts to post an unlimited amount of words with accompanying definitions to the Slangtionary platform. Each word submission will be reviewed by at least three to five Slangtionary moderators. Each moderator will either approve or reject each submission. If 2/3 moderators approve of a word/definition submission, the Slangtionary submission will be approved and published on the Slangtionary platform for all to see. After the submission is published, any Slangtionary users can upvote or downvote the Slangtionary post as they like. The more upvotes a Slangtionary post receives, the more rewards (steem) the author of that post will earn and the higher it will rank on Slangtionary.
