The halls for the Bodhisattva of the MercysteemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel6 years ago

There were 2 buildings at the left and right side on the temple ground.
The one of two buildings were famous for its roof style. There are several traditional roof construction style in the traditional architecture. This roof style is very rare in the Buddhist Architecture. The roof had four angle sides.

This building had been rebuilt after the destruction during the Japanese Invasion 1592 - 1599 AD. But it showed the characteristics of the Architectures in Shilla dynasty which had built more than 7-800 years before its rebuilt in Choson dynasty.

At first, the foundation of the building and the steps were relatively well preserved. Especially simple and elegant stone steps were the typical example of Shilla dynasty’s architecture style.

What made me amazing was the sculpture of the Bodhisattva. This wooden sculpture was maded in 1655 AD.

The other thing made me interesting was the Buddhist paint located on the wall of the hall of the Bodhisattva of the Mercy.

I'd like to post the hall for Bodhisattva of the Medicine next time.

@slowwalker, In fact I prefer to see and studying various kind of roof construction style of Koreans. There are pretty fashionable look to see my vision. Also lot of history and behind story included. Those stone steps seemed unique and elegant. It's amazing to see golden coloring sculpture of the Bodhisattva inside temple. Wall painting also impressive. Nice photo clicks you caught.

🙏Bodhisattva migrated from southern India to China. When the Hindu religion outcome with aggressive attacks towards Buddhists to eradicate them from India. But that wise guy took all the knowledge and shifted to China and it was not easy. He was a prince. He faced a lot of problems therein China, because of his appearance. The peoples did not accept him as one of them. Bigger and wider eyes, Sharp nose, hairy face, and kingly voice and behavior. Without him Bhudhism is not full.
One who gave the elite martial art to China, and to the world. Respects.🙏

Interesting building. It seems to me that I saw similar roofs in Chinese buildings. Cultural exchange is unreliable to stop 8)
