Face your fears and make it your fuel.
Fear is a natural phenomenon which can never be permanently eliminated. No matter how wise and intellectually sound you might be, you’ll at some point in your life experience it. The great news is that we all have control over it and we can choose to make it mar or motivate us; it’s all in our hands. Fear happens to be one of the staple destroyers of dreams. It comes as a kind of warning that something bad is going to take place, and this leaves us in anxiety of the unknown.
How can I turn my fears into fuel?
In life, every emotions and actions can be turned into something good. Instead of being afraid, you can choose to make your fears interesting by turning it into opportunities. Fears are not walls but mere obstacles which could be eliminated.
In turning your fears into fuel, you need to first identify the fear in order to utilize it for good. You can’t fight what you don’t know, so you got to sit down and probably list out all your fears and number it if you can.
The second step is to write down the possible causes of all fears. Get curious of those things that always ignite your fear and write them down. Different form of fears might be caused by different conditions.
You also need to be aware of the ills caused by fear and imagine the achievements you could have made if you had long dealt with the enemy called fear.
Eliminating all negative thoughts can help you take advantage of your fear. Once your mind presents 100 negative thoughts to you, fight it back immediately with a thousand positive responses.
Let go of your comfort zone. Many of us have gotten to used to our comfort zone that we become afraid of trying new opportunities and adjusting to change. Life is not stagnant, in order to create impact, you must be ready to take healthy risk.
Back then in high school, facing the crowd was my greatest dread. Being one of the student leaders, addressing the students was one thing I couldn’t run away from, but I discovered that each time I face the students or the parliament to address an issue, I always ended up stuttering throughout. I had all the ideas but airing it out was my challenge, so I subscribed to writing. ’’But how long am I going to continue this way?” I asked myself. So I decided to face it and deal with it. I used my room mirror as my audience, and each morning, I’ll tell the mirror “look here, I’m not afraid of you”. I started rehearsing while standing in front of the mirror then I reassured myself that I can do it. I quit writing reports and subscribed to facing the parliament whenever I am called and addressing the students was never my challenge any longer. I became too fluent in speaking that I became an hotcake and was always called upon to represent my school in any competition that requires public speaking.
What am I trying to say? Turn your fear into fuel today, and you’ll be amazed at the level of achievements you’re going to record.
