Rain is characterized by the calmness it brings after so much sun or hot weather. When it rains, everywhere looks calm and quiet if the rain is not a disturbing them with thunderstorm or unnecessary breeze.

I have always puzzled myself with the benefit of rain as against the calamities it brings. Perhaps you are wondering what i meant by calamities.

Let me feel you in with some of the things that comes with rain or the after effect of rain.

Rain, ordinarily, is supposed to grow our crops to avoid famine. Rain serves as that phenomenon intending to make everywhere cool and calm especially to those of us in hot countries like Nigeria and many African countries.

Without a rain in a year, the people are likely to experience shortage of food. Lack of rain also bring about many sickness - at least from an African perspective.

Perhaps, this explains why it is often expected that it rains so that there wont be shortage of food. I know agro has gone beyond depending on rain but on a larger scale, farmers still rely on rain to water their crops and for the soil to produce good and healthy foods.

With this in mind, rain sometimes fall with what I regard as aggression. Have you asked why rain, a supposed blessing falls to the extent that it destroys roof, building, cables, etc.

Rain, ushered in by massive breeze destroys lives and properties.

While science have answer for breeze, i wonder why it comes so hard on us that things/lives must be destroyed. How does a blessing usher in sorrow and grief?

In Nigeria, electricity is one thing we are never sure of having on a daily basis. Sometimes, we don't have light for days, weeks and months in some cases. The Power Holding blame it on rain which destroys cables and other things.

So they need time to fix it. That is not even as painful as interrupting electricity because it's about to rain! Each time rain is about to start, we know light would go off.

If the rain is ushered in by a breeze, it is certain the light would be off. When this light would be restored is always unknown to anyone.

Why is it that we experience such power interruption in Nigeria? Are the Americans and Europeans experiencing same reality?

I know they have uninterrupted electric supply there and whenever there is a need to interrupt it, people are fully and duly notified. But here, who are we going to ask? Is it the same Power Holding Company that use generator to power their own light?

My worry is why does rain come down on humans the way it often did that it destroys them and their properties?

Many experiencing this realities with me will not call such a blessing. Those whose families lost their lives and properties due to what comes with rain would not agree with others that it is a blessing.

Your opinion might be different from mine which is good bit i will love to read them.

Kindly contribute your rain experience and if you think it blessing outweighs its sorrow and as such should be 'forgiven'.

Thanks for your time.
