Mr. Akis Panou - original clay sculpture (portrait) by @sofi-m

in #art8 years ago

Hello everyone!

Today I’m going to continue with one more artwork of my musicians collection only this time it is a portrait of Akis Panou, one of the greatest Greek folk composers, poets and musicians.

Akis Panou (1933-2000) has composed over 200 successful songs and has cooperated with the country’s greatest singers. His career and fame was hit when he killed his daughter’s boyfriend during a heated argument. Akis Panou regretted deeply for the murder, but one of his memorable quotes in court was

“whoever keeps a gun in his house, has one leg in prison”

The sculpture is made out of four color types of clay and is 37 cm high. Here are some additional photos of the sculpture.

With regard to “whoever keeps a gun in his house, has one leg in prison”
I find Ouspensky's short story "Talks with a Devil" most pertinent:
"I will tell you a fairy tale," said the Devil, "on one condition:
you must not ask me the moral. You may draw any conclusion you
like, but please do not question me. As it is, far too many follies are
laid at our door, yet we, strictly speaking, do not even exist. It is you who create us."

With regard to your sculpture:
Wonderful! I especially like his shoes! I want some just like that!

Does each additional color type of clay used complicate the firing process exponentially?
