Under the brain of a fish, there is a special type of gland named the pituitary gland. The extraordinary type of hormone produced by the pituitary gland below the brain is called gonad stimulating hormone. By injecting this hormone into the body of a mature female and male fish, the ovaries of the female fish and the testicles of the male fish caught up with maturity, through this process it is possible to induce reproduction. Application Method

---

Fish can be injected into different parts of the body like in the thoracic cavity, below the dorsal fin, above the lateral line and in the fleshy areas of the lower fin.

1. It is ideal to inject at an angle of 10° at the base of the thorax and 45° at the other two territories.

2. The fish are anaesthetized with Quinaldine before being vaccinated.

3. Quinidine can be used in the quantity of 50-100 mg in 1 litre of water.

4. The female fish is usually given two injections. The interval between first and second injections is 5-6 hours.

5. Male fish is given one injection and it is during the second or last injection of the female fish.

6. Injected fish are identified by tying a red thread on the dorsal fin for a certain period.

7. It is better to deliver 5-10 litres of water flow per minute for each fish.

A pituitary hormone can be applied at the following rates per kg of fish.

Uses of Hormone

Uses of hormones are crucial in induced reproduction. The hormone stimulates the fish to reproduce and spread, mature and lay eggs. Different types of hormonal chemicals are used in fish breeding. In Bangladesh most commonly used chemicals are pituitary gland (PG) and human chorionic gonadotropin. PG is used in Rui fish. The position of the pituitary gland in the pit below the carotid artery. This gland is the main gland and from this gland, hormones and protein are dripped. Extensive Benefits of the pituitary gland have been found in some fishes. Within 2 or 3 days, while the pollen pona fish is being fed, the yolk of the boiled chicken should be sifted through a fine sieve cloth and fed. Moreover, plankton can be collected from the pond for feeding.
