Today I am going to share my wonderful travel experience in Nawabganj National Park, Nawabganj, Dinajpur. This is one of the most beautiful national parks in the Dinajpur district. This National park spread over an area of 517.61 acres. It's located in a huge area. To the local people, this forest is also known as the Panchabati forest. In this forest, there are a lot of plants.
There are about 20-30 species of plants in this forest. Among those plants Teak, Kadai, Gmelina Arborea, Calamus tenuis and Bamboo etc are popular. In this huge forest, there are also a lot of animals. Foxes, wild cats and various species of birds are among them. To attract tourists, a 900-meter-long Z-shaped wooden bridge was built over a reservoir in the forest. People called it Ashura Bill or Ashura Bridge. Currently, the bridge is a major tourist attraction. There is also a place called Shitacot Buddhist Bihar near the Nawabganj National Park.
Travel to Nawabganj National Park
I travelled to this place twice. The first time I travelled to this place was in June 2019 and the last time I visited this place was in 2020. I am sharing my last travel story with you. In August 2020 I visited this place with one of my friends & younger brothers in our area. I can remember that it was the second day of Eid. My friend told me before the few days of Eid that we will visit a place this Eid and we will share our happiness and Nawabganj was selected for the tour. On the day of our travel, we were present to the determined place, from where we started our journey to Nawabganj National Park. We rented a micro to travel there.
The distance from Parbatipur to Nawabganj is about 44 kilometres. You can see the distance on the map. It takes about 1.30 hours to reach Nawabganj from Parbatipur. After reaching Nawabganj, at first, we took some selfies. Then we all went to the other end of the bill by boat. Although there was a wooden bridge, the boat trip was very enjoyable, so we chose the boat to go to the other side of the bill.
There are several street food shops on the banks of the bill and dense forest all around. We did not go deep into the forest. Because going deeper into the forest is dangerous. There are many foxes here so it is better not to go deep into the forest. Also, if you come to visit the place with a child, always keep the child with you. After taking pictures we had some snacks there. Anyway, then we went to the bridge. This wooden bridge is 1 km long.
This is the first time in my life I saw such a long wooden bridge in Nawabganj. Walking over the wooden bridge was quite enjoyable. It was noon to complete the tour of Nawabganj National Park. After visiting Nawabganj we go on a trip to Sitacoat Buddhist Bihar. Some parts of this ruined monastery are underground. This monastery has probably gone underground a long time ago.
However, the remaining parts of Bihar are still visible. There is a field in the middle and a huge palm tree in the middle of the field. I love this beautiful scenery. This is a huge area. The monastery was discovered in 1968 through excavations. Archaeologists have found that the monastery had a total of 41 rooms. In the picture, you can see some of the installations of Bihar. This is ancient I think.
After visiting this place we come to Birampur town. Arriving in town we have lunch. There was no good hotel near Nawabganj National Park so we came to the town and we had a lunch there. After having lunch, we sat for a while and took a short rest. Then we set off for Parbatipur. It was late afternoon when we reached Parbatipur. We reached Parbatipur with a lot of happiness. It was a beautiful day with this wonderful and memorable journey.
