Tambo or tambour exist for religious and socio-cultural activities
Tambo or tambur is a traditional musical instrument of Aceh, Bandung and some regions in the archipelago. Tambo is made from iboh stem or other hard trees, cow leather, and rattan as a leather strap. In the early days, tambo or tambur served as a means of communication to indicate the arrival of prayer times, to gather citizens to the meunasah / surau to discuss problems in a village, or to inform any misfortunes or dangers. Currently, tambo is rarely used because of modern technology in the form of microphones and sirens.
