WHAT? Don't worry, that is actually a good thing for those that enter in this week pool because you can enter next weeks pool and get a double chance at winning!

How it works

The pool does not pay out until there is at least 1 SBD to payout. There is no upper limit. If the pool earns enough to pay out 100 SBD, we pay out 100 SBD.

This is our first week, so there is no spreadsheet to show just yet. But the earnings from every prize pool post goes into the pool. 50% is paid to the winner and 50% helps us buy seeds and water purification systems for those that need them. The spreadsheet will show exactly how much is in the seed and the purifier pools.

Why we need the seed and purifier pools.

When Sotall first started, I saw it mainly as the opportunity to give away free seeds and to help share all the "how to" posts to help people survive in emergencies and become more self-reliant no matter what happens to the world around us.

As I read all the fabulous posts people were making, I noticed one of the big problems for people is clean water. We have people here on Steemit who have no access to clean water. There are Native American reservations where people get sick from drinking contaminated water and I fear it will only get worse as time moves on. If the money was available, we could spend upwards of $1 million dollars buying purification systems and still not come close to helping everyone who need it.

Each time we can provide a water purification system to someone, we are helping ensure that person/family is able to have clean water for many months/years to come.

Then someone mentioned (sorry I don't remember who) the idea of buying seeds from the Steemit members who are already growing food. I loved that idea, but to make it happen, we edto have SBD on hand to buy the seeds when they are available. Therefore, the seed and purifier pools were born.

Upvoting and Sharing grows the winnings

I send out a new question each Monday. Anyone who upvotes (no matter if your upvote seems to not do any good) and resteems the post, plus answers that week's question with their own personal opinion (no right or wrong answers) is entered for that week.

If there are not enough earnings to payout in any 1 week, the amount rolls over to the next week and everyone who entered, can get an additional entry through the second weeks post.

I also send out a reminder a few times a week. All upvotes on those posts, also goes into the pool. So upvoting and resteeming them, while not required, does help increase the payout. I believe once this new system runs for a few weeks and everyone understands how it works, we will begin to see larger prize amounts.
