Think Pink 💭

The feminine urge to Think pink! Love Pink, Wear pink, Own pink ... Pink pink pink

The pressure to not conform to the association with pink being linked to being an ordinary girl couldn't budge me an inch from my love of pink. I'm as ordinary as they come when it comes to the love of pink.

I will always lift a brow to anyone who utters, “I hate the color pink.” Though I will be a bit offended at first and might even put up a bit of resistance, I will deeply understand. I will understand the pressure that pink puts on you, I will understand the stigma that the color has and I will definitely understand the expectation to always be pink.

I love all shades of pink. For as long as I can remember, pink has been my favorite color. It doesn't mean that I have too many pink clothes and accessories; it means that pink is a reserved commodity, saved for special occasions. No, it can't be excessive, and no matter how much I would like to wear pink, I will not surrender to my wishes - I will not overwhelm myself.

I mean why do people often look down on, demean, and disrespect PINK? Is it because of its meanings and associations, mainly linked to femininity, leading many to perceive negative implications? The subtleties and undertones of it being a color associated with (ordinary & common) girls? I have heard people criticize pink because a man was seen wearing a shade of it. Statements like "he looks so girlish in pink" raise questions about why being feminine is considered a negative trait. Fortunately, my dad doesn't share these views. On Eid, my mom sent me a photo of him:

My dad wore a pink waistcoat on Eid and did some feminine things too. Courtesy of Mom

Once upon a time, I fell in love with hot pink too! My brother, who had returned from the UK on his study break, gave me a handbag in this very shade, and I just couldn't get enough of it. I had my mom stitch an outfit for me in the exact shade, and I remember wearing it to university while holding that handbag and daring enough to wear a relatively darker shade of pink lip gloss. "Daring" because it might not have sat well with the faculty and maybe some colleagues, but who cares? Did I mention that the whole thing was paired with hot pink sandals?

it was one shade darker than this dopatta/scarf of mine

I love pink things too... Hehe
I mean who could not want a cute diary like this. Ok, I know there are people, mostly ♂️, but I'm not them people.

So much for trying not to overwhelm myself with pink. Just captured (look at the time stamp), and the background doesn't even show my pink suit. Well, looks like I'll be sleeping in pink after all.

And just on the verge of weirding you out, I must confess that I was once crazy about this song in Urdu/Hindi (from across the border), whose lyrics are all about the things you find beautiful and pink when you are in love. In Urdu, pink is called گلابی (ghulabi) It would translate as rosy in English, the color of a pink rose. It is also called پیازی (payyazi), translating to onion-like, the light hue of pink in an onion. And the song I'm talking about roughly translates to:

The evening is rosy pink, the morning is pink,
The time is pink, and this city is pink too..

I'm pink too, and you're pink
The day is pink and the havoc (that you have created in my mind) is pink too..

The thread binding us in secret is pink,
Without force, without ego
No constant interruption, no ego,
Just the gentle bond, keeping us tight

.....

Ok I know the translation is sounding super creepy so I am not translating it any further. But the song ain't a bit cringe. It's the embodied pink love. 🩷 The repetitive word in this song is ghulabi (rosy pink).

Note: I have written this post under the tag #selfexpression. It struck me that this very platform has many other utilities besides writing posts under the usual tags. It could serve as a space for light & casual blogging without always delving into deep, wise messages. Don't we sometimes read just for the sake of reading, to distract ourselves from heavy emotions? I admire the style of @kiwiscanfly - easy to read and digest, just flowing along. I'll be writing more under this tag, minus this note.

In fact, I'm seriously thinking to buy a shocking pink dress for a wedding or any occasion.
However, someone inside me is kept on saying that people will call it too much or maybe say me Gulabo zra itar .... ok stop it already👡👒👜

I'm in love with your nail paint. 😍

Pink is not my favourite colour - but I do like it and love to wear it. I too have 'hot pink' fever these days.

me right now - I will let my socks talk

The heater is also looking kinda pink!

Pink doesn't have
to be a favourite colour to be loved! Hehe

The pink in your socks is talking for all the stripes 😆

You look good in pink! Keep up the good work by forcing pink down the throats of those who have the belief that feminity is bad or evil. Never surrender!

Thank you!

Never surrender!

Yes, that's the resolution...

I got lines from the Galaxy Quest movie😊
