Dear reader - Steem has been renamed to Hive since May 2020. My content therefore has moved with me to Hive, and I hope to see you there: peakd.com/@soyrosa.
Yes, well said @soyrosa ...
... as there is a lot to life well-lived. Imagine if this famous cathedral could tell us her story. About her long life ...
From reports here, it is possible this fire was due to work being done to restore the cathedral. Can you imagine what it would be like if you were the person(s) responsible for such destruction?
I am so sorry for your loss. I know this is a personal loss for you and millions of others.
I can't think of a building that I love like that, and I don't think there is one. But places I can relate to. How would I be feeling about a fire in the 'old grove' (monster Sequoia trees) in Yosemite? I'd be physically ill.
Again, I am sorry for your loss and praying that the Cathedral will have enough shell to rebuild.
So sad about this.. :(
Me too :-(
Pretty weird how you can love a building.
Yeah :( better not overthink this because it hurts more the more you think about it
So hard to believe :(
The Hunchback of Notre Dame was one of my favourite childhood movies.
We need to rewatch it :-( Make it a special date and time and send our Notre Dame a huge goodbye :'(
What a tragedy, @soyrosa! I'm reading your shocked post and immediately reviewed the link you put and there is what I feared. What a pity that these things happen and especially in places that keep so much historical memory. You were lucky enough to visit her! Hopefully you can get it back and others will have the good fortune to know it too. :(
Yes, I'm lucky I could visit her and see/touch/admire her from up close. But this is a huge loss :'( I am very sure many people hold dear memories from visiting this building - these places become symbols of our lives in a way.
I hope you'll be able to come this way some point dear @nancybriti! <3
After seeing the World Trade Center fall years ago, I had never thought I would see another impactful image like that; until now. I have been there twice and find myself wanting to look for those pictures and reflect.

<3 Indeed. As I said above: these places become symbols of our lives - WTC is one with symbolism and deep deep meaning/change in our lives, and Notre Dame might be more personal than that, but it definitely is a meaningful loss. Glad you were able to see her with your own eyes.
Thank you so much for participating in the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!
I really hope so too. But it doesn't look good at the moment :(
:-( No, I expect she'll burn whole and they have to renovate her and we'll have another 'Sagrada Familia' in Europe: a huge tourist attraction in constant build mode :'(
What horrible news :( I was so shocked when a friend texted me with the news...easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. They might bring her back, though I don't know if it will ever be the same.
