in #money8 years ago (edited)

First of there is many resources you can currently use online to learn to be a web developer. This post is going to showcase some of the ways you can learn to code for free to earn a full income or a side income.

First resource:
Go to site: https://www.visualstudio.com/products/free-developer-offers-vs.aspx
Now using a msn account sign up up for the site if you don't have one you will have to make one.
You will find the page looks like:

Click Visual Studio Dev Essentials join now button.
Once you click it to a page with all the materials which looks like the image below:

Click activate under the plural site resource, the code will automatically be imputed into the field for the code on plural site sign up.
Then go to plural site site the account up and bam you have 3 months free of plural site.
Currently you can just use another msn account if they account trails expires and do the same thing.

I do recommend following the paths on plural site it helps a lot.

Second resource:
Which is more commonly known by hundreds of thousands of people and is really good at teaching basic to high level programming such as, html/js/css/ and many more.

What they offer:
They teach you to code to the point you can be a full stack developer which is really look for these days.
Give you editors you can use
Teach you how to use github and other resources you can use for project storage and editing.
They will have you do a project with a random person for non profits to learn how to work with others.

The amount of effort they put in to teach people to code for free this site alone could help you become a pretty successful developer. I have have personally recruited a few people from this site to join my team.

Other resources for editors and such:
http://codepen.io/ web based editor which is a live editor.
http://brackets.io/ is a very good starter editor it also includes live editing.

Places to find online web jobs:
If you wish to work locally Craigslist can help a lot.
upwork.com
freelancer.com
reddit.com you can find people looking to hire people on their
bitcointalk.org in the service section
There is many sites you can find on google, i only listed a few.

Making projects and selling them as scripts or templates. Making themes for WordPress or any other thing is a good idea and posting them on sites like themeforest. Id recommend making some templates or scripts for well known open source projects the passive income of $15-$50 a script can add up over times leading to hundreds of sales of your script and the passive income adds up over time. Forum templates and WordPress templates can be very profitable also so that something to look into if you want to go into the passive income route for side money.

Learning to talk to customers is going to be a skill your going to need to learn. I would recommend doing freecodecamp because they give you a very good understanding of what to expect.

I really hope these resources help some of you out, I've seen examples of people in their 50's who wanted a change of pace an learned to code and are earning way more then they were before. I would love to read about any of you success stories if this path helps you to earning even some side income.
