What is CBD-Oil

CBD-Oil is a product produced from the plant hemp or marijuana. It works on our endocannabinoid system within our body helping bring homeostasis. It works in our body with a dynamic effect working directly with neuron to neuron synapse communication exchange. Areas of homeostasis are obtained in our nervous system, endocrine system, immune system, and oxidation. How is CBD-Oil Manufactured

There are a few ways CBD-Oil can be extracted from the plant.

  • Food Safe oils - Olive Oil, Vegtable Oil, Coconut Oil, Sesame Seed and Hemp Seed Oil.
  • Supercritical or Subcritical Co2 extraction - Different temperature resulting is two different product outcomes.
  • Extraction with industrial Gas, Liquids or Solvents

Food Safe Oil
Oils are heated to a 200 Fahrenheit and the plant are submerged into the oil and the resin is extracted binding to the oil components . This is a cheaper and easier way of extraction. This extraction method reduces the potency of the oil. There are benefits of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants in food safe oils that add benefit but do have a storage shelf life and not as effective.

Supercritical CO2 Extraction
Supercritical CO2 extraction methods are more expensive. This method of extraction is more clean, safe and purity of the oil produced. It is performed via temperatures and pressures. Carbon dioxide or CO2 is extracted at lower temperatures and a cold extraction with a high pressure system used unlike Subcritical CO2 extraction. Carbon Dioxide is turned into a Gas and then a liquid due to heat beyond critical point, then a pressure from cold causing a critical pressure point allows for the extraction process.

Subcritical CO2 Extraction
Is the same process of Supercritical extraction but it used at higher heat rangers leaving less potency. This process is mainly used to create CBN casued from the over heating of THC changing the competency and reducing some cannabinoids.

Therefore Supercritical and Subcritical CO2 extraction methods both work the same but with different temperature and pressure ranges to produce different product potency and compounds. Carbon dioxide is a gas that turns to a liquid when it is held above its critical temperature and pressure. It has low toxicity and environmental impact and allows most compounds to be extracted with the selective extractions without damage to the product.

Extraction with industrial Gas, Liquids or Solvents

Extraction with solvents, industrial gas, or liquids such as ethanol is a cheaper option of extraction and also not as safe as other methods of extraction. Also due to the solvents being used the end result of the product may still contain traces is the produced Oil product. Solvents are use as strippers and are a harsh chemical. This is a highly flammable or explosive form of extraction if not performed and monitored correctly.

Conclusion

In this discussion we have observed the working of CBD-Oil in our body, the symptoms it can treat and the benefits obtained. Three extraction methods have been disclosed in Food Safe Oil, CO2, and Solvents. What was gathered was Food Safe Oil is not as potent and can leave behind essential compounds and cannabinoids. Supercritical and Subcritical both work the same with carbon dioxide being heated beyond it critical temperature and pressure points causes the carbon dioxide to form liquid ans the pressure caused from cold pressure.....Subcritical CO2 is pushed to higher temperatures and pressure to produce a more isolate product with less other compounds to form CBN a sedative. Solvents are a cheaper option but are extremely flammable and explosive and traces of the solvent used is more than possible to be found in the final product. Therefore CO2 extraction methods even thou are more expensive, is a more viable method to the mass production of CBD-Oil. This method of extraction is more clean, safe and purity of the oil produced.
