INTRODUCTION

I am delighted to join this amazing contest of "one picture one story" and I will love to tell us about a renowned and an incomparable song writer who has created a great impact and has also served as a role model to the present day artists. This artist is no other person than the most famous South African musician in person of "Late Lucky Dube.

BIRTH AND FAMILY BACKGROUND

Lucky Dube was born on the 3rd of August 1964 in Ermelo, mpumalanga in South Africa. His conception was seen as a blessing to the parents and to the family because of the failed pregnancies and miscarriages faced by "Sarah" his beloved mother. But before Lucky's birth, his dad and mum had separated due to some misunderstandings between them

EARLY LIFE

Lucky Dube's early life was filled with poverty, suffering and hardship. He was single handedly catered for by his single mother right from birth till adolescence with a little help from his maternal grandmother. At a certain stage of his growth, Lucky began to work as a gardener to support his family. He continued with his work until he started schooling which he later discovered his talent and for music in the process.

EARLY MUSIC BEGINNING

Due to his passion for music, Lucky Dube began composing songs with his friends and firmed his first music group which was called "the skyway band" while in school. With his talents and commitment, he later joined his cousin's band group which was called "the love brothers band" as at the time. The love brothers band group really focused on the Zulu pop which was famously known as "mbaqanga".
The love brothers band signed deals with several record companies including the "Teal record company". It was then that Lucky Dube started learning English and functioned in some offices like the media head and record executive

LUCKY DUBE'S RAGGAE MUSIC CAREER

Lucky Dube's music was one of a kind. I listen to his music almost Everytime that I am tired and fatique and it makes me relaxed and comfortable.
He is attributed to reggae music which according to him was inspired by past music legends like Jimmy Cliff and Peter Tosh.
He discovered reggae music of his kind in the mid 1980s' which he released his first album "Rastas never die" in 1984.

CHALLENGES OF LUCKY DUBE AFTER HIS FIRST ALBUM RELEASE

Lucky Dube face some challenges after releasing his first album like discrimination by the whites, racism and hatred. But the Paramount of them all was the issue of poor sales. At firs, people didn't seem to like his kind of music and this led to the lack of concern and lack of love for his music which led to the reduction in demand for Lucky's reggae musics.

LUCKY DUBE'S INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Since he was so concerned with passion for his reggae music, Lucky did not give up or allow the poor sales in his first album affect him. He kept on pushing and continued to perform his reggae music on concert, ceremonies and shows. He later gained followers gradually until it became massive.
His international awards began to Troup in when after he released his 2nd and third album which were "Think about the children" in 1985 and "prisoner" respectively. After the release of these two albums, his music career skyrocketed to the brim and he began to win multiple awards like " the world music awards for the best selling African music", amongst others

LUCKY'S LEGACY AND IMPACTS

Lucky Dube has been a great impact and also made himself an inspiration to today's music artists. His music portrayed social issues, victimization, violation of human rights, racism and apartheid of South Africa precisely and that of the entire Africa at large.
with his act of kindness, selflessness and justice for humanity, he became a global music ambassador for African music touring worldwide and and well collaborated with other foreign musicians for tracts. some of them were Peter Gabriel, Sinead and Sting.

STORIES ABOUT HIS DEATH

we have come across several rumors about Lucky Dube's death. It has been said that h be was assassinated in London during his concert and lots more
well, when something happens people do blow hot and cold to have their own share of the story line

ACTUAL DEATH

Though Lucky Dube was killed no doubt, but it was not in London. The incident took place at Johannesburg on the 8th of October 2007. He was shot and killed by some rubbers during a botched hijacking attempt. According to the accused, they didn't know it was him and they mistook him for a Nigerian (I have no idea what Nigerians did to them😁)
They were after his Chrysler and in the process of the attack, the great man lost his life .
Two shots were triggered at him and he crashed his car on a tree and lost his life instantly. Lucky Dube's death was a great shocked to the entire music world from that time till date.

CONCLUSION

though the suspect were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment but the great man's life was lost leading to the incompletion of his goals.
He will forever remain in our hearts💯✍️
