SPL Presents: Propositional Betting Madness!

One Huge Prop Bet

Anyone who has put in long hours grinding at a live poker table knows how tedious and boring the hours of inactivity can be. Some players eat or overeat, some smoke or take pills but all of them gamble. Proposition bets are a natural way to pass the time and they are not limited to games of chance. Prop bets often fall into the category of physical challenges and this is exactly what the Staples brothers found themselves doing after booking a weight loss bet at 50-1 with high roller Bill Perkins.

Jamie Staples was a robust 304 pounds while brother Matt weighed a feather-light 134 at the time of the proposition. Perkins offered the two 50-1 odds with a max $3,000 wager for a total payout of $150,000 if they could get to the same weight in one years' time. The brothers took the wager and went to work.

In March at the RunItUp Reno poker event hosted by Jason Somerville the brothers both weighed in at 188.3 pounds , the exact same. Matt had gained over 50 pounds and Jamie lost over 115 pounds! These are two brothers that you should stay away from with your impossible prop bets if you want to keep your money.
