Molly Seidel qualifies for Olympics in her first ever marathon

Let me clarify: Molly Seidel had never entered a sanctioned marathon race in her life and the very first one that she enters she finishes 2nd and easily qualifies for the Women's Olympic team.

Molly had been a star cross-country runner in high-school where she was the most decorated funner in the history of Wisconsin. She continued this legacy later at the University of Notre Dame but then she disappeared from the scene after her graduation in 2016 and an injury prevented her from trying out for the 2016 Olympics.

We all know that the people in the Olympics tend to be the best of the athletic world, but for someone to enter an event that they have never competed in and then come 7 seconds shy of winning the whole thing, is absolutely amazing.

Only Aliphine Tuliamuk finished ahead of her, and not to attempt to take away from Ms. Tuliamuk's accomplishment but she has been competing in marathons extensively over the past several years.

The hype generated by this Cinderella story will have the effect of making many people watch the marathon portion of the Olympics, I know that I will be. It would truly be incredible if this person, who has never even done a marathon before, was able to medal on the global stage. It will be exciting to see for sure.
