Perseverance--The Talent Booster
Playwright Noel Coward said,
Thousands of people have talent. I might as well congratulate you for having eyes in your head. The one and only thing that counts is: Do you have the staying power?.
Perseverance is not an issue of talent but an issue of finishing what you have started. Talent provides hope for accomplishment but perseverance guarantees it, perseverance sustains this hope.

One thing you should heed to is the fact that no matter how talented you're, there's no success without perseverance. Perseverance means succeeding because you're determined to and not destined to. Perseverance recognizes life as not a long race but many short ones in succession, perseverance is stopping not because you're tired but because the task is done, it doesn't demand more than we have. I like to describe perseverance as the perfect combination of patience and persistence. That is, constantly failing to give up while putting up the right attitude in expectance of the result.

Perseverance begins with the right attitude, an attitude of tenacity. It is a trait that can be cultivated over time. In developing perseverance there are certain behaviors and mindset that should be curbed.
First and foremost, stop giving up!!!
If you desire to succeed as well as maximize your talent, you need to be persistent and consistent. Which basically translates to Persevere.
Rich De Voss said,
Persistence is stubbornness with a purpose.
Talent without stubbornness, without perseverance, never comes to full fruition. Opportunities without persistence will be lost. Successful men and women are very careful in reaching decisions and very persistent and determined to see these decisions executed to the later.
A wrong belief that life is a bed of roses
A very successful steemian now once told me something before he attained his success. He said that,
In as much as you are struggling to survive and making ends meet, life is also struggling to take its course and make it hard for you. Because it wasn’t designed to be easy. It was designed to make you work. You have to fight
And he fought really hard and I saw him create a community and a brand just by perseverance.
Having the belief that life is going to be easy makes things a whole lot more difficult. Don't expect to succeed right away because it doesn't work like that. It's best to view your failures thereby using it as a reason for recommitment as well as a reminder to refocus on your goals with more determination.
Shadow belief of seeing success as a destination
Sounds confusing right, basically, this means that if you think you have arrived, then trouble isn't far from you. As soon as you think you no longer have to work to make progress, you'll begin to lose ground. For every new level or aspiration you achieve, there’s something better to look forward to. And if you feel you don’t want to climb higher anymore, don’t forget that there’s something that’s required of you to remain in that position.

Remember when you roll a stone up a hill, you don’t just leave it because you’ve gotten to a milestone, you ensure it doesn’t roll back.
Lack of resiliency
Jerry West said,
You can't get much done in life if you only work on the days you feel good.
Desire to persevere through thick and thin, desire to persevere through mishap and make the most of the talent you have. Don't become dry and friable rather be able to bounce back no matter how you may feel. Eliminate excuses and develop your stamina and remember that no matter what your talent is or what skills you possess, if you lacks perseverance you would just be a flash in the pan.
Keep at it, it all pays off eventually…

In life there are hurdles on the way to success but only those that have perseverance will be successful. It does not necessarily means that there will not be challenges but seeing beyond the challenges that is PERSEVERANCE.

Thank you for that.
The difficulty with perseverance is that it takes enormous strength of character.
I think it was Jordan Peterson who suggested that to persevere you not only have to sacrifice the pleasure of the now, but also suffer the pains of repeated failures.
Where do you find the motivation for all that?
I recall that Peterson's answer was that you must constantly imagine the even bigger "hell" you will feel if you do not persevere.
I think that's quite a good motivator lol!
You get the motivation from the thought of the rewards that would come after you complete the task. The self confidence and satisfaction alongside other benefits that the task brings...
This was my favorite part, I had never heard this quote by Jerry West before.
I will have to remember that one!
Well, we learn something new everyday....
