Meet the artist
Westcoast artist, Nancy Townsend, has followed a long path to regaining her culture and heritage. Growing up in a native familly outside of her traditional community Sechelt, Shíshálh Nation on the Pacific westcoast of British Columbia, she works mainly with oil on canvas with her favorite subjects being the beauty of the westcoast and ancient First Nations totems.
She also is an accomplished traditional material fiber weaver focusing on Cedar, she has worked with youth teaching traditional skills such as cedar rope making, and cedar weaving at aboriginal education at school district 71.
