The spectacular Luang Prabang Night Market! WHAT WAS IN THE WHISKY!?

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Are you hungry? Well lets go!

In the city of Luang Prabang found in the heart of Laos there is a night market. It opens every night every day of the week at the same time and it closes at the same time.

The streets are empty and usable for cars and traffic in the day but once night falls, the market envelops!

It is vibrant, happy, colorful and a place that lights up your inner sanctum. Here you can truly find a little bit of everything.

They have whole streets just dedicated to tasty and more importantly for a backpacker, cheap food! How about 1$ for a plate that you can fill by yourself? And it is a big plate!

Or would you rather go shopping? You can do that too... for hours!

These umbrellas made for a nice photo!

So let me tell you a little quick about what happened there. I went there with some friends I met while backpacking. And we found something in the market. Something we wanted to try. I dont know how to explain it other than that... it is a whisky. A strong whisky.. with something extra in it..

Yes. That is a cobra and a scorpion. IN WHISKY.

"Wow. We have to try that!"
"Try wha... OMG!!"

So we decided to try it... Here is our group with the merchant of this intriguing beverage. I am the one furthest to the left, I was hanging out with a whole team of Koreans. So awesome people! IMG_6053.JPG

Now you are probably thinking that it must be rancid and disgusting and taste like the devils di¤k? Well let me tell you. IT SURE DID.

We tested it, no one drank more than 1 sip of it but what an adventure it was!

That was all folks, thank you so much for reading Stay awesome!

Nice post, I love visiting night markets.

Thank you so much, I was a little afraid it would go unnoticed. Me too! You really need to visit this one, I think it is one of a kind. :)

Hopefully one day! If you've never been to Taipei, I highly recommend going. There's literally a night market in every neighborhood and outside most subway stations!

Oh wow no I have never been but it sounds intriguing! :) I just hope it is not like in Thailand where all the markets basically have the same items? :P

Hmm, not all items are at each market and some markets have specific items they're known for although there are definitely some foods that'll pop up fairly regularly. It's very easy to tell which ones are the good stalls though because locals love lining up for food they think is worth it even if a neighboring stall is selling the same thing and has no line.

Oh thats good to hear. :)
Yeah haha I use the same trick, no empty restaurants/vendors for me because A) Probably not so good B) Likely to get sick

I want to visit there some days. I think they sell delicious foods. Happy steeming. I upvote you.

It suits your channels name perfect because it is amazingly cheap and the food is delicious! :) Thank you I will reciprocate! :)
