Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Still Going Strong

We are up to eight pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, or @sbi8. We currently have 3112 members that have posted within the last 28 days. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 25184 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.

With so many inactive members, we have only been able to upvote 345 of the members in pool 1! We will continue to move inactives into an inactive list after 30-60 days. Since rebalance cycles do take time to process, the exact cutoff for movement to the inactive list is flexible.

When a member on the inactives list begins posting again, we will see that in our data refresh and reactivate them into our lowest pool. From there they may begin moving up through the pools again as we continue our rebalance cycles.

@josephsavage does not post frequently enough to get value from his management shares, so most of them are temporarily assigned to @katysavage and @thedailysneak until the automation project is finished. Since they have both not been posting as regularly, that keeps the voting power higher in the pools. When they start posting more regularly, they will again start showing high in the top few pools.

We have been a little slow in rebalancing the pools this week as we struggled to catch up on enrollments after @babysavage was born. That has allowed @dynamicrypto to pull ahead as he returned to active posting after some extended travel. It will even out again as we catch up our rebalance cycles.

After @dynamicrypto, we see very close portion sizes between the top accounts in pool 3 that have maxed out their pool 3 shares. Differences here largely attribute to rounding errors and rebalance delays, but typically even out over time.

As we move down through the pools, there are progressively fewer people with significant share counts, and we start to see it drop down to even slices much more quickly.

Pool 5 was rebalanced very close to the start of this period, so in pool 5 we see a return to that close match in slice size between @dynamicgreentk and @dynamicrypto. Expect to see more parity in all the pools by the time we next publish this update.

Here @cicbar has maxed out his shares, but @dynamicgreentk is still growing share count. We just sampled the results of our rate-limiting experiment in pool 7, and it has gone fairly well. That will be gradually expanded into the higher pools over the coming weeks.

Pool 6 will now be rate-limited to 2 upvotes per day. If you post more frequently than that, you may not receive upvotes on every post. If you still post less frequently, don't be concerned. The upvote weights will still be calculated weekly and then adjusted to your posting frequency.

Instead of distributing tiny upvotes evenly across every post, members in pool 7 will be capped at 1 upvote per day. Their weekly voting weight will be divided by 7 (1 per day) instead of their full posting frequency. If you post frequently and your votes seem to stop, please check all of your posts for upvotes from @sbi7. You may be receiving only 1 vote per day instead of upvotes on every post.

Pool 8 upvotes will come from @sbi8!

@sbi8 was registered today, and new members will be slotted into @sbi8. It will be rate-limited to one post per day, similar to @sbi7.

We will also be transitioning from a maximum of 500 members per pool instead of 400 members. This will slow movement up through the pools until enough inactive members have been removed from higher pools. We will watch for members that are receiving 100% upvotes from lower pools and prioritize their movement up if they are not already maxed in higher pools.

Once all pools have successfully been reset to 400 members, the shares per member maximum in each pool will be increased to 125 so that the total shares maximum in each pool will be the same.

Conclusion

We are currently stalled on our project to fully automate all the processes, which has negatively affected our ability to get out regular updates. Since we want members to receive their full bonuses from upvoting, the goal for how many upvotes are needed to reach the full bonus will be based on our actual number of updates, instead of our target of once daily.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member. If you sponsor yourself, or do not sponsor anybody, we will assign the 2nd share to an existing member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accepting SBD for enrollments transactions. The delay for processing enrollment transactions can be up to 6 or 7 days.
